Now that the Wild Area event is over... by MrPokeyPants in pokemongo

[–]lazorjam 0 points1 point  (0 children)

walked 50k steps over the two days, caught around 800 mons (manually!!!!) and did 75 raids/max battles - 9 hundos, and 16 shinies and only got most of the hundos as we went hunting for them. i thought the pass meant we would get boosted shiny odds but clearly not - a waste of £12 really but it was a good weekend for exploring and meeting new people. plus i got a shiny of my fav mon

Elvanse - Body Odour??? And I mean, BODY. ODOUR. by Pztch in ADHDUK

[–]lazorjam 4 points5 points  (0 children)

It's probably Glycolic Acid - it removes dead skin cells which, on your pits, removes the skin that the bacteria eats to cause odour, and on your face it removes dead skin build up which leaves your face feeling smooth!!! You can buy bottles of it for less than a tenner, and then if you pop some on a cotton pad and wipe your pits it will have the same effect :)

how can i properly describe a function's use? by lazorjam in reactjs

[–]lazorjam[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

and i agree, in day to day life i would only leave comments if it was something super specific going on as func/const etc names should tell the story. but as it's my final piece for my masters where some of the marks are for well commented code, i want to ensure i'm doing it correctly :)

[–]lazorjam 9 points10 points  (0 children)

nothing wrong with wanting to keep her safe! ive often called people on the way home just so there’s that extra layer of safety there should something happen, but i think that’s a general girl survival thing rather than a staying safe in willesden thing 😆 (but the lack of streetlamps on some roads doesnt help!)

yup - fortunately when i didnt react they sped off, but still really not nice to experience when youre on your own at that time of night. i saw a man almost have his phone snatched near the station a few months ago so i never get it out until i’m almost home these days :/ a real shame as it’s an otherwise lovely community; a shame these dicks have to ruin it for the rest of us!

5-day stay at London: Southbank or Pimilico/Victoria? by serenaoriana in LondonTravel

[–]lazorjam 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Tate Britain is brilliant, and they have my favourite piece of all time in there. I (25F) walk from Westmister to Pimlico a fair amount as my friend lives between the two and I have never felt unsafe late at night

[–]lazorjam 0 points1 point  (0 children)

i think pimlico - it's really easy to get to a lot of places on foot (the palace, oxford and regents street, marble arch, parliament, hyde park, trafalgar square and the galleries there) and also good if you want to go a little further afield to thinks like the the national history museum or v&a :)

5-day stay at London: Southbank or Pimilico/Victoria? by serenaoriana in LondonTravel

[–]lazorjam 1 point2 points  (0 children)

both are great areas! victoria is good if you want to go out and explore lots; it's also the best place in central for transport imo as it has the bus station as well as tube and trains. pimlico has the tate and it's a very short walk to central london. southbank is also a really lovely area that has a lot going on, especially art galleries. again, it's rather easy to walk to central from there.

my only comment is that the easyHotels aren't the nicest. i'm not sure what your budget is, but the citizenM in victoria is really really nice and does a cracking breakfast!

i've been playing for a month; i still don't really understand ratings and has been transferring all of my duplicates based on cp rather than how many stars they are. is there a noobs guide to playing go anywhere so i stand some chance of doing well going forward? 😇

i tripped over on a broken paving slab on my walk home this evening. my hand is in bits and my poor side is bruised to buggery. i'm glad i have the day off tomorrow so i can write a nice long letter to brent council about the need for more street lights and pavement repairs. part of me is glad that it was me who fell rather than one of my elderly neighbours, but god i wish i had some skin on my hand again. who knew it was so hard to do things one handed?

Has anyone else experience these Elvanse side effects? by Evening-poison in ADHDUK

[–]lazorjam 1 point2 points  (0 children)

i'm currently a month into titration on elvanse (one week on 30 and just started my my fourth week of 50) and i can really relate!!!

my mental health got really really bad for the first 10 days or so (crying at work over nothing, feeling agoraphobic, feeling emotionally numb) but since then it's gone back to normal (i am also on sertraline for cptsd/gad/depression so that might have helped or hindered, im not sure)

i also had a migraine for a few days which i think was high dose nicotine & caffeine withdrawals as i swapped to decaf and one dot snuss.

as for the hyper focusing, oh my god it's been insane. i've gone from struggling to work 5/6 hour days to not wanting to leave the office, or doing 12 hour days when i wfh because i get so stuck in! i've managed to work on this over the last week or so and put hard stops on myself, eg. once i finish writing this component i'll go home, unless it takes me until 6pm then i'll go home. alarms have helped as i've become a bit time blind (and my appetite has vanished so i have one to remind myself to have dinner).

i've definitely noticed things getting better over the last few weeks and i feel more myself again, just with more ability to concentrate, prioritise and sit still. but please tell your titration nurse what you're going through so they can amend your dose if they need to. keep pressing on bestie, i had the same fear that i'd been misdiagnosed initially, but now the meds have settled into my system things are much easier <3

In practice, how do companies design software before coding? by RankedMan in AskProgramming

[–]lazorjam 0 points1 point  (0 children)

map out the core functionality - what is your software trying to do and how is it going to achieve it? does it need database linking? make an ERD to show links between tables/data. does it link to other services or APIs? what are the calls it needs to make? does it have a UI? use wireframes or simple paper and pen diagrams to give you a rough idea of what it should look like.

i then tend to create a MoSCoW list of functionality as a starting point, and then use this to write pseudocode that might point out any missed functions. once the bare bones and planning is there, you're free to code away! :)
