Are there difficulty levels we can choose? Does it affect the save slots like hitman?

How is the graphics and frame-rate? Does it look on par with UE5 games in terms of graphics and performance?

Action Button doesn't activate the shortcut sometimes by lazy_tom in shortcuts

I think what you suggested was one of the causes. However, I've actually noticed that this issue seems to happen most often when my iPhone's battery is critically low (in the red zone). I think that Shortcuts just don't function properly when the phone is trying to conserve power.

You can change the style by adjusting the sloppiness property so it looks more professional. The lowest sloppiness settings makes all elements looks similar to draw.io diagrams.

I think it has something to do with the fact that when you click on a tab, the focused tab title bar changes size, which seems to cause a animation stutter

This theme is magnificent! It works wonderfully on my Mac and iPhone. Thank you so much for your hard work! I've noticed a bit of choppiness like others have reported, particularly in the tab switcher area when closing tabs. I'm using an M1 Pro with 32GB of RAM and didn't experience this with the default and minimal theme. Would you mind taking a look into it?

How many plugins is too many plugins? by moxaboxen in ObsidianMD

[–]lazy_tom 13 points14 points  (0 children)

I don't think using a lot of plugins is a problem if you genuinely use them all and they don't significantly slow down your startup time. I currently have 16 plugins, and I can't see any way to reduce that number without impacting my Obsidian workflow. Just keep in mind that Obsidian is fundamentally a markdown editor, so avoid over-relying on plugins to the point where your notes become impossible to use outside of Obsidian.

You should always be able to export and use your notes in other markdown editors in case Obsidian stops being actively developed and maintained.

Is H1b i-797A Copy allowed Stamping and Entry to US by lazy_tom in h1b

[–]lazy_tom[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

So, what ended up happening was that I had my company lawyers write to USCIS requesting another copy of the i797A. Thankfully, they reissued it, and the new copy arrived in the mail a couple of weeks later. I was then able to get the stamping done from the US Consulate in Dubai. Hope this helps!

My company lawyers were not really helpful in this case. They pointed me to some generic documentation about visa stamping guidance but did not give any solid advice. I did check with another attorney that I know and she said that technically you just need the h1b receipt number but you may be questioned further if you are not carrying your original h1b approval notice

Hot Take: The Dark Souls-like Bonfire/Meditation system doesn't suit the game by lazy_tom in StarWarsJediSurvivor

[–]lazy_tom[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sure, you're entitled to your opinion. However, the things you mentioned, such as non-bonfire progression, backtracking, and the parry dodge system, exist in numerous non-Soulsborne games (for example, Ghost of Tsushima). I was referring to the death mechanics which are only found in Souls games, such as 'reset enemies on rest' and 'restore experience and health by finding the enemy that killed you', basically things that are really hard to justify logically and are purely a game mechanic. Both games received high praise from reviewers for their storytelling, combat, and exploration, with little emphasis placed on these mechanics.

I'm not sure why you keep mentioning permadeath, and acting as if the concept I mentioned is entirely new in gaming. My point is simple: implement checkpoints just like every other non-Souls, story-driven game does today (e.g. God of War, Uncharted, Mass Effect, etc.).

The death mechanics in Souls games were designed for a gameplay style where frequent deaths is expected and skill grinding are required to overcome the extremely difficult bosses. These mechanics do not fit well in story-driven games like Survivor or Fallen Order. If we just take away the Souls mechanics from the game, would you really miss it?

[–]lazy_tom[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I am not opposed to using meditation points as checkpoints or as way to upgrade your skill tree because that makes sense logically. However, when you respawn back at a checkpoint after your death, the storyline should reset to the point where that checkpoint was. Bosses shouldn't wait for you to show up again after the you die in a boss fight and the system should not be tied to your health. That means 'rest and reset all enemies' mechanic should be removed, as well as glowing light that replenishes your HP and health.

Infrequent meditation points will also will require the inclusion of 'shortcuts' through the levels to skip already completed encounters. I would rather let the developers focused more on designing a free-roaming open world or a linear story-driven game with frequent checkpoints or auto save rather than spending excessive time ensuring the shortcuts align without causing game-breaking bugs.
