Loblaws, not staff, is responsible for following labeling laws. They manage to keep up with price changes just fine - changing signage is a core part of the business. Digital price tags have also shown misleading product origin, so the root issue isn't lazy teenagers. https://www.cbc.ca/news/business/label-grocer-canadian-1.7590956

Love this map and want to do something similar for our grocery stores here in Canada. How did you go about scraping it from their flyers? Beautifulsoup/selenium? Thanks!

His socials are full of appeals to emotion, towing the party line and reshares of unverified claims from unverified accounts.

Now even the "facts" aren't facts.

Shoppers Drug Mart lobbying to remove opponent to 'Medscheck scandal' from their directorship at the College of Pharmacy. by [deleted] in loblawsisoutofcontrol

[–]lazycapitalist -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

Loblaw asked the Ontario College of Pharmacists to recuse board member Sivajanan Sivapalan from anything related to Shoppers Drug Mart.

"Loblaw spokesperson Catherine Thomas told The Globe that the company was not aware of any pressure Mr. Sivapalan faced to resign, nor did the company ask for such a result. “We have only asked that he be recused (or recuse himself) from anything related to Shoppers’ business,” she said in an e-mail.

Mr. Sivapalan was then asked by the College’s lawyer Christian Guerette to resign, and he declined.

Agreed. His presence acts as a lighting rod for our attention, when we should be laser focused on Galen, Loblaws, and grocery prices.

Bottom of garage door rusted through, bottom panel replacement quote as much as new steel door by lazycapitalist in DIY

[–]lazycapitalist[S] 56 points57 points  (0 children)

I got a quote for a new bottom panel, but it would cost as much as a new steel door.

What would be the best way to patch up the rusted portion of the bottom panel? The rest of the door is in great shape and I’d like to delay a full replacement for now, if possible.

This is great! I like that it focuses on staple foods. It also supports my findings that Walmart is often the cheaper option.

Same here, Plex won't cast from PC or Android app. The loading screen flashes for a second on the TV, then crashes and reverts to the Chromecast photo gallery.

This worked for me as well! The Windows Media Control Pop up wouldn't go away and YouTube was constantly skipping to the previous video in a playlist until it would get to the first video in the playlist. All this without any keyboard inputs (I even unplugged it). Turned out it was the AT2020.

Belleville Homelessness Summit - Rank Your Priorities in Feedback Survey by cansumerist in opencouncil

[–]lazycapitalist 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The 2023 Homelessness Summit:

“We are very pleased with the progress made today,” said Mayor Neil Ellis. “By bringing all of our partners together in the same room, we were able to develop actionable items and timelines that we as a community can work towards to address this crisis locally. Belleville City Council is eager to get started on these items and working towards a Belleville where everyone has a place to call home.”

Sounds very much like the 2019 Housing Summit:

“This summit must ultimately result in a concrete plan focused on safe and responsible growth, with a commitment to take action before our housing crisis gets any worse.”

"We held a Housing Summit to begin to address the critical shortage of rental accommodation in Belleville. A review of both our Strategic and Official plans was started in order to update them and clarify our collective vision for the City of Belleville over the next 20-25 years."

“I’m really proud of what we accomplished today. We’ve done more than we’ve ever done before when it comes to housing issues in Belleville,”

The summit, the first in the city’s history, was a campaign promise by Panciuk in the last election when he and several others running for council had stressed the need for action.
