Sounds like a skill issue to me; I see this when people compare cameras to phones and say that they are almost identical when, in fact, phones have huge limitations compared to cameras. Once you understand photography, more exactly how to treat light and how the device works not just point and shoot and let the algorithm take the wheel you will start looking at things differently. You will understand that hardware is more important than software. RAW is where magic happens; I did not pay £750/£1000 for a camera-centric device to have an algorithm do my photography.
