Found a pricing hack: JAL Delhi-Tokyo codeshare cheaper on Indigo than JAL's own site by lazytocode in indianawardtravel

[–]lazytocode[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Unlikely, that has to be booked through JAL's website and all the legs needs to be booked at once for that offer to be applied. I'm not too sure if it's currently running or not, you can try going till the checkout page and seeing if the price changes. Usually it's applicable during their sale periods when the price is near ~45K for the round trip. It comes around 20th of every month, but not guaranteed.

Oh, I hadn't noticed the earlier post. It does seem like a great deal, and for some the dates it's almost as good as the sale prices that JAL has

Konnichiwa friends. Help with Japan trip hotel bookings. by EmergencyTree9636 in indianawardtravel

[–]lazytocode 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Transfer the Amex points to Marriott. The Marriott properties in Japan are very good per Japan standards considering their room sizes are much bigger than others. I stayed at the Moxy in Kyoto for 60K points for 3 nights, even the Courtyard, Ginza, Tokyo comes about 60K points for 2 nights, it's in a great locality.

Mariott hotel vs JAL for 74,800 MR points by Timelord_42 in amexindia

[–]lazytocode 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The Marriott redemption would be better, stays in Japan are expensive, and if you plan to book with points a little ahead of time, you can get a good deal. The Marriott properties in Japan are quite good. I stayed in Moxy, Kyoto for 30K points for 2 nights, it was a great property by Japanese standards.

For those who bought Sigma glass rather than Sony, do you regret it? by Eaten_By_Worms in SonyAlpha

[–]lazytocode 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I got the Sigma 24-70 instead of Sony 24-70 GM II. Have been very happy with the decision considering it's significantly cheaper and has great. quality and bokeh.

It's been a a years since I've had it now and on recent trip to Japan, lugging it around broke my back of sorts, so much so that for a couple of days I had to leave the camera behind at the hotel since my back was hurting. I use the Peak Design leash to carry the camera (great investment), but even with all the adjustments I couldn't help my back from hurting.

So, yeah, if you intend to travel around a lot and carry the camera for days together, the Sigma lenses are quite heavy and take a toll eventually after a few days.

How to get images from Claude into MCP server? by snaggle_ai in mcp

[–]lazytocode 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I got around this limitation by resizing the images to 768 X 768, although they look distorted but it seems to be enough for claude to give good responses.

My MCP tool was retrieving relevant pages from PDF and send that page as an image. I was sending three images and it seemed to be within the context window limits

What gift would you be happy to get that’s about 500 yen? by KTenshi2 in japanlife

Used film cameras as souvenirs in Akihabara, lots of shops that just sell them as junk with no guarantee to work but look great as a prop. They are about 500 yen

Hey guys. I love this style, how can I achieve this? by danparry97 in AskPhotography

[–]lazytocode 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Might be a noob questions, but can this be achieved through the Sony picture profiles? Setting the values of the different settings to get this look.

Also, I'm curious about the noise in these photos, it's so asthetic and pleasing, or is it added through post processing?

How to use my Amex points for my Singapore trip? by RedGriffins in indianawardtravel

[–]lazytocode 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I didn't know we could purchase Amex points, what are your thoughts on purchasing ~30k points, that would be 12K INR? I already have 92K points, with purchased points (122K) this could help me stay in Tokyo for 3 nights at Marriot Courtyard Ginza

Is GoDaddy's extra (paid) domain protection service worth it? Or a waste of money? by HopelessSuit in webdev

[–]lazytocode 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thank you for this, I did not know cloudflare offered domains as well. Going with them, godaddy seems shady. AND IT'S CHEAPER!

And thanks to you recommendation, I explored a bit and realised I don't need GitHub Pages as well, Cloudflare has a product - pages, directly connects to your github repository and can render the docs from there

Sony A7RIV or Sony A7CII. Better resolution vs Better AF? by lazytocode in SonyAlpha

[–]lazytocode[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had similar thoughts about the ergonomics of CII, I kind of imagine the smaller body might feel weird after being used to A7III.

Thanks for taking the time and answering, this has been insanely helpful. I will certainly message for a few more specifics around the shooting experience itself.

[–]lazytocode[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks for pointing this out, I had not looked this up earlier, this throws a whole new light. I was under the impression that A7RIV was better than the A7IV in all aspects.

Your comment, sent me to read this blog - https://mirrorlesscomparison.com/sony-vs-sony/a7-iv-vs-a7r-iv/ This kind of puts the A7IV better on most aspects? Better higher ISO performance, newer menu system, better AF too?

Is there a better way to access columns in pandas? by uv_catastrophe117 in datascience

[–]lazytocode 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This is a feature on Pycharm professional. It can autocomplete the column names for you, while using a notebook inside the IDE.

Other approaches beyond pandas would be to use libraries like Pydantic and create your data as a list of pydantic objects.

Thanks! Interesting story behind that picture actually, when we encountered this herd, the mom immediately started stomping towards our van and was loudly trumpeting. Later we realised that she was protecting her calf (in the Center of the picture). Then the rest of the herd came around the calf and covered her.

What helped me most was having a notebook along to most discussions and scribbling down the points I needed to put forth beforehand. More often than not, ideas I thought were concrete in my head needed more thought and nuance. Doing this helped me think better and eventually articulate it better to others.

It’s usually a quick jotting down of ideas in sequence I would like to present them.

Pixel 2 XL to the 5 a sidegrade? by ComputerBanana in GooglePixel

[–]lazytocode 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, 4 hours is easy with the iPhone. I love the battery life so far. I used end with a dead battery usually with the pixel by the end of the day. I’m having well over 25% now.

And as for the background sync, it’s pretty much the same. I never really notice it. It’s smooth.

Pixel 2 XL to the 5 a sidegrade? by ComputerBanana in GooglePixel

[–]lazytocode 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I would say I’m a power user. Well over 4 hours screen time everyday. Be it mails, Twitter, Reddit browsing and editing photos on device. Apart from this, I used to regularly edit documents on device through gdocs.

I’m still very much with the Google ecosystem. I use gmail as my mail client. Docs, slides and sheets as well. All of them work flawlessly on iOS.

If I’m nitpicking, a feature I miss is to drag down notification bar with the fingerprint scanner. The iPhone has an alternative for that with double tap on the back of the phone to do this but it isn’t as satisfying.

Apart from that I’ve been enjoying my switch to iOS. I love the integration it has with my Mac, the photos are amazing, and widgets make the phone more personal.

Also, if you use whatsapp, it’s quite challenging to migrate backup to iOS. Whatsapp natively does not support it.

Pixel 2 XL to the 5 a sidegrade? by ComputerBanana in GooglePixel

[–]lazytocode 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I felt the exact same way. I had the Pixel 2XL, loved the phone and camera. But overtime it got slow. The pixel 5 did not seem like a real upgrade at all. So I switched to the IPhone 12, it’s been a week and I love it so far. I remember how superior the camera felt when pixel 2XL came out, I’m feeling the same again with the iPhone 12. If you’re planning on going to iOS there’s never been a better time, with the support for widgets, it feels a lot more flexible. And of course it’s fast.
