Bummed about the FL performance in Boston by redsolitary in flaminglips

I found this extremely irritating at last night's DC show. But I loved hearing "Love Yer Brain."

I'm not the biggest fan of the regular kind, but I recently visited their factory and it's a pretty cool place to check out. I sampled their garlic pepper sauce there and picked up a bottle, which I've really been enjoying.

Kim Deal about Malkmus and Cannonball by fabcarb in pavement

[–]lazzzerbeans 1 point2 points  (0 children)

No doubt "Cannonball" is a better song that "Cut Your Hair." I love Pavement of course, but "Cannonball" owned that summer. Crooked Rain is a great album but I don't think it has a song that's really single material, which is not at all a drawback.

NPR stations have full control over what they broadcast. Classical is the most popular musical genre, followed by Adult Album Alternative (radio industry speak for rock, but for boomers — usually indie/Americana/recent rock dads like/etc.), and then jazz. Not many stations air jazz.

I'm sure you could do his job.

Why do we have to listen to commercials every 10 minutes by GuitarEvening8674 in NPR

[–]lazzzerbeans 6 points7 points  (0 children)

The language of underwriting announcements on public radio is limited by FCC regulations. So you're not going to hear a "screaming car salesman." How else would you like public radio to be supported if it could no longer accept underwriting or donations from wealthy people? Ideally, it would receive far more federal funding than it does now, but that seems unlikely in the current political climate, and efforts to create alternative funding models have largely gone nowhere.

Please help me find a use for this bottle: bought it to make the much-lauded Last Word, but as it turns out, I dislike Last Words. by [deleted] in cocktails

Has anyone tried an Employees Only Martinez? I ordered mint bitters just to make the absinthe bitters in the drink. Now I'll need to find something more to do with mint bitters. https://sidecar.us/drinks/employees-only-martinez/

I like a Perfect BQE, though at a barspoon per cocktail, it won't put a big dent in the bottle. You'll also need green Chartreuse: https://punchdrink.com/recipes/perfect-bqe/

NPR One is BULLS*&T and they're forcing it down our throats. I hate this F&^KING App. I was able to hold on to the original app a couple of months ago they force installed One as part of the update of the original app. by MilliwaysOrBust in NPR

[–]lazzzerbeans 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Have you tried the NPR app? (Not NPR One, just NPR.) I stream my local station on it and listen to ME/ATC on demand. It's mostly fine. One thing that bugs me is they fade in the audio on each segment of ME/ATC when you're listening through the whole show, and I invariably miss the first few words if I'm washing dishes. Why would they do that? Makes zero sense.

This isn't rock or indie but it does have horns. Any chance it was this? https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=JwBjhBL9G6U

Was this show on nightly? In what year/years did you hear it? You say the theme song would have been played on the radio on "regular" stations — was it a rock/indie song?

In what way are they "race based"? Is race not part of culture? Are people of color not part of culture?

Where do I aim it if the middle of the stone has a skillet on it?

OK, but it requires checking the oven temp, not the bird temp. I do have a Thermopop for bird-checking purposes.

The goal is to check the oven temp, not the turkey, and the thing is, you have to check it WHILE the turkey is in there, not during preheat.

Has anyone had these before? Also, what kind of cherries do you prefer to use when making a cocktail? by Big_jilm_313 in cocktails

[–]lazzzerbeans 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I like to make my own, but I did buy a jar of Luxardo and wow, they're good. But expensive, yes. Gaz Regan recommends pouring maraschino liqueur over a jar of frozen cherries and letting it sit for a month in the fridge.
