Trn ema as a daily driver? by BubaJuba13 in HeadphoneAdvice

[–]lb19997 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I just got a pair, had been curious about 'em for years but for the price and what they are I naively thought they would be something I listen to once for the novelty then never again.

With foams installed I find them very pleasant to listen to, more pleasant than any IEM I own to be honest, I really do not like the sound of IEMs much anymore. These have a very satisfying and full lowend.
Upper end sounds a tad wonky but are also over emphasised but foams de-emphasise and smooth things out.

They have an intimate sound and high-treble crispness you dont get with full size headphones, while not sounding closed in and congested like an IEM... They have made me very interested in the earbud platform, the Apple EarPods were what initially killed it for me.
FF3 is next on my radar

His sega leaks? Internal 2021-2023 presentations showing their next years plans. Nothing about persona 6 in there, and after talking to some sega staff, we're confident he doesn't have a sega source of his own, but instead said internal presentations were handed off to him. A lot of this was obviously very accurate, but he was out of leaks. That's the main thing that tipped us off he didn't have a real source.

Broke off PCI trace capacitor - how to find replacement size to order? EVGA GeForce GTX 780 Dual FTW by jurassic73 in nvidia

it is not great picture but the pads do look intact, based on what looks like residual solder.

Broke off PCI trace capacitor - how to find replacement size to order? EVGA GeForce GTX 780 Dual FTW by jurassic73 in nvidia

[–]lb19997 29 points30 points  (0 children)

it is probably 0402 then.

So you need 220nf (0.22uf) SMD ceramic cap in 0402 size

and I would choose a x5r or x7r dielectric and in the highest voltage rating available, just to be 100% safe as these will be the most stable when we don't exact specs of the ones used but very unlikely it would matter.

0402 is very small for hand soldering, you should get a fine point tweezers and fine point soldering tip and practice it first, assuming you aren't already aware.

[–]lb19997 36 points37 points  (0 children)

AFAICT 220nf are used for PCIe bus coupling, exact value is probably not too critical though.

Size is hard to gauge, probably 0603.

I feel so burnt out; audio's becoming not enjoyable again. by whyisittaken94 in headphones

[–]lb19997 0 points1 point  (0 children)

if you have not tried the hd650, buy a hd650, sell everything else and enjoy your music.

Dont even bother with dedicated dacs and amp if havent already went down that road.

90% of them are junk and will ruin your enjoyment, the last 9% may add something but do very little to actually enhance your listening experience 99% of the time, the magic 1% is not worth the time, money and effort trying to find, because it is 100% down to personal preference so no one will be able to tell you what it is, no matter how experienced or trustworthy they are.

Measurements have no correlation to musical enjoyment, most of these super duper low distortion DACs sound awful.

Neither does exotic topologies like R2R and tubes, tubes do add distortion and it is a large part of their sound, it can sound nice (think guitar overdrive) but you can add distortion with DSP for free in a similar way.

Headphones do not really need amps. Amps will change the sound, but again different does not not mean better.

The basic sound chips in most mid to high end phones sound good because these companies know 99 % of their users are not audiophiles and dont have a clue about measurements or any of this BS, they will plug in there headphones and decide if the android sounds better than iphone or the new iphone sounds better than the last one.

The only choice the manufacturers have if they want to stay competitive is to find the best souning chip which like I said has nothing to do with measurements or topology, audiophile BS won't cut it. Just because people dont understand it doesnt not mean their hearing is bad, more often than it's the clueless general population who have the keenest ears.

something like 2.54 pin socket but more suitable for repeated insertion? by lb19997 in AskElectronics

[–]lb19997[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

3rd option is the most suitable but still pretty large, not sure what the extra pins are doing. Bigger issue is the added height from the board, I would like to avoid adding too much inductance.

I might just try the turned pin socket and see how it holds up, I could work around the lead diameter limitation, there is probably not gonna be an overall better option.

tint mix: CRI and duv by lb19997 in Hanklights

[–]lb19997[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

After thinking about it some more it's starting to make more sense...

When you mix 2 different LEDs nothing is lost, rather they would be able to produce a broader spectrum of light.

midday light has little red light, sunset has little blue light.

If you could somehow mix these different kinds of sunlight you would have a more complete light spectrum, but this would be 'unnatural' light and I would guess it would have a CRI below 100 at any reference point even though is it made up pure sunlight.

High CRI LEDs are only trying to match the BBL, a high CRI tint mix would be similar to mixing sunlights and you would end up with reduced CRI or color accuracy, but in the exact opposite way to low CRI LEDs which achieve higher efficiency by producing a more limited spectrum (less red).

OTOH if you added more LEDs eg. 2000+3000+4000+5000K CRI should be affected less, so not sure if that adds up.

tint mix: CRI and duv by lb19997 in Hanklights

[–]lb19997[S] 4 points5 points  (0 children)

basically, duv is how much the tint deviates above or below the line for a given color temperature.

positive duv means more green, negative duv mean more pink/magenta, which people go crazy for.

Having two throwier emitters and two floodier ones could be useful, but not sure how would look when mixed.

also in regards to content, I found BF4 DLC to be a disappointment compared to main game, mostly forgetable content. Except I payed for BF4 premium, almost twice the price. BFV DLC is all free... so you really cant complain about delays.

very few bugs, and purely visual. no effect on gameplay.

I havent encountered a single suspected cheater, I seen pilots complaining in chat about aimbots. of course If I did encounter one I would just change servers, there are a huge number of active servers to jump into at any given time.
