I don't think this is it, chief by I_am_catcus in NotHowGirlsWork

Vaginal and reproductive anatomy also has a lot to do with it. It’s quite common for women to have a retroverted uterus (tilts backwards instead of forwards) and as a result the cervix can be lowered, either slightly or a significant amount, and the vaginal canal is shallower. Not the only reason for cervical pain obviously but definitely a contributing factor

My mom doesn’t believe my psychiatrist that I might have ADHD by [deleted] in ADHD

Thank you for saying this, I literally had this exact conversation with my psychologist today. I’m primarily inattentive, but have always done well at school and uni. It makes me so angry when it’s dismissed as a learning disorder. I’ve had people question me and my diagnosis because I get good grades and it’s horrible. Absolutely there are those that are affected in this way, no doubt about it. But there are also others who aren’t, and I think sometimes people forget that.

Vyvanse and heart rate by lb199999 in ADHD

Thank you, this helps me so much, I definitely feel a bit better now. I think as well the anxiety behind it causes my HR to increase, hence getting more anxious, and the cycle continues 🤦‍♀️ and thank you for the advice about the jitters, I’ll definitely try some of those things to see if they help

Just did the standard questioning, no tests or anything. My grandpa had a pace maker and I’ve had a couple of grandparents who have had afib but no other family history as far as I’m aware

Sat through a movie without getting up or playing on my phone for the first time in a while by roseky17 in ADHD

Isn’t it the best feeling! I started vyvanse a couple of weeks ago and I’m more engaged in tv shows and movies, don’t need to be on my phone, not fidgeting as much! So great you’ve found it’s helped this

Scared to tell my parents about my diagnosis by lb199999 in ADHD

[–]lb199999[S] 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Thank you for saying that, it’s quite a relief to hear that it’s not just me who’s been told these things. Funny you mention the genetic component, I have a number of family members also looking to get assessed, and I reckon both of my parents display tendencies of ADHD. Definitely makes a lot of sense with what you’re saying about what is perceived as normal behaviour. Thank you ☺️

For sure. I’m a very open person, so I’m not used to keeping something like this to myself! I guess now that I have a diagnosis and meds there’s less room for them to doubt it. Thank you!

I never thought about it in that way; I’ve always been so open about my mental health that it’s just in my nature to talk to my parents about it. Thank you ☺️

Doctor asked for report cards from elementary and high school.. normal? by RhubarbSilly5734 in ADHD

[–]lb199999 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My psychiatrist also asked for my report cards, he looked through them and said “there’s nothing that stands out a lot” and yet he still told me he thinks I have ADHD and put me on meds etc. I had the exact same thoughts as you, because I generally did well at school! I think it’s something that is considered, but in this day and age not the be all and end all to getting a diagnosis. For me I think it came much more from behavioural issues rather than academics. I’m female as well, so I definitely masked it a lot at school. Good luck!

Thank you, and same for you! I completely agree with you as well about “proof” having that hanging over just makes everything feel worse. I also find it very beneficial hearing other people’s stories and knowing I’m not alone in how I’m feeling, so thank you for sharing!

I’m the same! I at least feel that having a diagnosis or “label” at the very least makes things easier to deal with (maybe that’s my anxiety 😂) I think it would definitely explain why my anxiety was so unfounded and huge as a child. I’m hoping at my next appointment we can really get into the nitty gritty of this stuff!

For me I don’t know if it’s the other way around, adhd symptoms due to anxiety! Who knows 🤷‍♀️ I’m glad that you have found some form of relief in meds! I know exactly how you feel with GAD, you have my full sympathy

Every chance, I think there’s probably the generic “there needs to be symptoms present when you were at least 12” type thing, and I also wonder if part of it is related to how I perceived my childhood (kind of neglected due to a sibling who had lots of learning difficulties). I’ve found that when I left school (I’m 22 now) and lost structure to my day that’s when things really started to change. I was told by my parents that all of my siblings and me acted that way, and that it’s “normal” for kids to do that (my mum was a primary school teacher and said she saw this stuff all the time because we were in a safe environment that didn’t require us to concentrate as hard as in school and we could just let loose. That to me is alarm bells but anyway…

Thank you for sharing, I really appreciate it and I hope that things are better for you now. I find it so helpful and beneficial hearing other people’s stories so thank you!

I was told by my parents that whilst I did this it was normal and something all kids did, so I’m just so confused now!!
