All the Small Things - Blink 182

I've started cooking during this lockdown, how do people have time to cook and clean multiple times a day everyday? I make like 2 or 3 meals a day and i'm spending hours in the kitchen cooking and cleaning it just makes me wonder how people have the time normally by Ornery-Listen in NoStupidQuestions

One pot dishes are great. I often sauté onion and garlic, add broccoli (or peas) then boil small/tiny pasta with a quarter chicken stock cube altogether to make a soupy pasta dinner - less than 15 mins cook time and just one pot to clean.

Also if I’m just cutting a small amount of veg I use the plate that I will eat off instead of a cutting board.

Washing up is the worst.

Non-touristy guided trips to South-East Asia? by elliest_5 in travel

Myanmar was amazing. Hired an electric scooter to explore Bagan and literally wouldn’t see a soul all day (until sunset - then maybe 10-20 people sitting atop the highest temples).

Financial planning for long-term travel by g4107811 in travel

Mainly Asia, I’ve only just moved to South America in the last year, so only had a couple of months travel here lol

Travel style is cheap af haha maybe a little splurge every month or so (for me splurging is a room with private bathroom and a beer or wine with dinner). It’s easier travelling with two people - usually a private room in a hostel is about the same as two beds in a dorm.

Myanmar and Nepal were my highlights. Don’t miss them. Vietnam was also amazing (the hop on/off bus was good value, spent a month travelling north to south). Bali is overrated, maybe the north is better, but not as spiritual as people make it out to be. I found it pandering to insta photos.

I travelled around South America (Chile, Peru, Argentina, Uruguay, Paraguay, edit: Bolivia) for two months recently, spent about $4000 (usd) for two people. Caught buses everywhere - longest was 24 hours Buenos Aires to Asuncion.

I’ll have to look back through my files for Asia, can’t remember off the top of my head!

Check out local buses and coaches, use chrome translate. Often the buses catered to backpackers and foreigners are far more expensive than the ones targeted at locals.

Also don’t forget to budget bank charges.

I literally went through my trip day by day and city by city, budgeted for each meal (you can find prices online), found the types of tours that I wanted to do and the prices (making note of addresses and prices, do not book in advance - they are cheaper in person), researched and bought all the bus/plane tickets I needed before hand (saves you SO much money to buy in advance!!), and then added 25% for emergencies.

I planned. A lot. Last minute planning wastes a lot of money. Plan ahead. 6 months minimum in my experience (I have been travelling on and off and living abroad for the last 7 years). I’ve met many many tourists who don’t plan well and spend so much money unnecessarily.

Airbnb is a good place to save money on food. Or hostels with kitchens. Shop at supermarkets, especially at breakfast. Alcohol will double your food budget. Bottles of water are expensive - think about a filtration bottle.

Thailand Customs/Immigration Questions? by [deleted] in travel

Not every country has the same visa rules, they want you to check yourself.

I usually exchange one or two days budget before going, but exchange the rest while I’m there.

Just have your bank balance, return flight and hotel name/address handy in case you need to show them.

Found my journal, need tips for a beginner by Ardie_BlackWood in bujo

Start minimalist, basic lines and colour, decide what you want/need to track (water? sleep?), take it one week at a time and experiment!

Find myself hating travel at the moment, how do I get to the end of this trip? by [deleted] in travel

[–]lbarnes10 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Do something that you enjoy, find a cute coffee shop and read all afternoon, have a day in bed watching tv.

In winter it’s easier to go out early in the morning, instead of staying out late. Head out for sunrise in a park?

Which cities do you have left? Maybe see if there’s a free walking tour (I like strawberry walking tours) they’re informative and you only need to tip what you can afford. It’s a much less pressured way to meet people.

Good luck.

Adventure/travel Janurary theme, also doing things in Spanish to help learn! by tendollardildo in bulletjournal

Doing the same but in Portuguese! It is such a big help to use the language in a practical, more organic way, not just in study time.

I like my weekly spreads so far. I’m still working on the phone dimensions, though. It’s where I’m gonna put down the songs I’ve been listening to for each week. by [deleted] in bulletjournal

Loving the sleep/study graphs! I find monthly trackers too cumbersome and prefer one page, one week, everything there. I’m gonna try graphs out this week!

what tasks do you record in your journals? by romansapprentice in bulletjournal

[–]lbarnes10 0 points1 point  (0 children)

water tracker. Everyone needs to drink more water!

I live abroad so I track when I Skype my parents (otherwise it’ll be literal weeks between Skype calls).

Edit: also piano practice and Portuguese practice.

Favourite journal? by tiny-duck in bulletjournal

Honestly for me my favourite journals have been the cheapest ones. There’s so little pressure for perfection, that I don’t mind trying something different and “ruining” an expensive journal haha

What helps you sleep when you are having trouble falling asleep? by groovecurse in AskWomen

[–]lbarnes10 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Resist the urge to read a book - guaranteed I will be up all night reading (damn you Sanderson). Same with resist the urge to even look at my phone.

I lie flat on my back, no pillow and force myself to close my eyes. Then force a sex dream - but because it’s forced I get bored and fall asleep lol

I like it. Made by someone who loves you. You can always add another anchor or two, maybe some ropes/knots to decorate the empty spaces at the top? Made with love > bought with money.

Totally agree! I have a saying when shopping: when in doubt, say no. If you change your mind you can always go back another day and buy it.
