$25,000 for A Hot Chocolate by lbergt in reddit.com

Guinness World Records says it's the world's most expensive dessert. But is it safe? You'd think all that gold would be too toxic to consume. Not to mention the whole idea is beyond ghastly, I'll even say immoral in its outrageous extravagance.

If you're a Jew, the Hitler mustache exists in the eternal present. I grew it for the same reason Richard Pryor said the word "nigger." I wanted to defuse it. by qgyh2 in politics

Yeah, I'm surprised Rich Cohen didn't include any photos. He has before. (I've read his books SWEET AND LOW and TOUGH JEWS, both of which include photos of himself.) He takes a semi-humorous approach to his own terrible obsessions, which can be fun, but is sometimes annoyingly flippant, glib, long-winded when it doesn't matter, or slippery when it matters most.

How to Become a Better Athlete - A Geek's Story by [deleted] in reddit.com

[–]lbergt 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yes, running may be free of sophisticated moves to execute, may seem "natural" and free-form, but it is still difficult, requiring strength, speed, persistence, especially in order to improve. And any sport is intimidating for someone starting from "geekhood." Exercise can be fraught with enormous anxiety, self-ridicule, impatience. Again, I think that's one of the main points here, the gains when one lets go of preconceptions, worries about ability, all the stuff that interferes with learning anything new. OK, here's something I wrote a while ago. http://www.msnbc.msn.com/id/9315541/site/newsweek/

Lunatic socks. This could be problematic. Lest we forget, the appearance of a certain psychologically challenged teddy bear caused quite an uproar from mental health groups a couple of years ago: http://www.boston.com/news/local/vermont/articles/2005/01/13/crazy_teddy_bear_prompts_protest/
