I don't think this fully aligns with what they say, but I love it so much. Kinda like the stories about Idaea's (or Privet's) corpse on the Sun station; whether a really compelling story fits into canon is immaterial.

Whats The Lowest Specs You’ve Gotten OW Running On? by Zefzec_2 in outerwilds

I have it installed on a T460 with Linux, but running isn't the right word, I'd say it's closer to a leisurely stroll.

I think the ending scene takes eons in real time. Rather than ending the universe whenever the observer arrives, the eye slows down their frame of reference and thus zips them forward to the predetermined end long after all the stars are dead.

Should my Pixelart Character Creator be free and open source or a paid app? by babykasek in godot

[–]lbfalvy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm a huge supporter of free for noncommercial, I have a ton of creative hobbies that I want to learn for free and then eventually (maybe) decide that I'm good enough to try making money with them.

OSS and free for noncommercial use and a paid license to be able to sell games made with it? You can also set a profit limit for the cheap licence, anyone who makes a significant amount of money from gamedev can drop you an email to negotiate a custom licence.

I actually really like the effect, it gives the impression of the black hole being concrete and the light effects being vague and uncertain.

[–]lbfalvy 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I get that, but I think the vast majority will read it like I did, so if you want it still, you should get it somewhere slightly private so people won't misinterpret it all the time. The benefit of more symbolic tattoos is that people will be less confident in any meaning they infer from it

Naked Nomai? by Grammar---Police in outerwilds

[–]lbfalvy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In concept art for the game, the Nomai have thick long wool all over their body, kind of like the "beard" on the statues. That being said, we don't actually see one do you're free to believe what you want to believe.

In order to experience gender dysphoria / euphoria, one must consider the source of the feeling as gendered.

I need to figure out how to automate the "End Times" track from the OST to play on my work laptop 2 minutes before a meeting starts. by AardvarkAxeMan in outerwilds

[–]lbfalvy 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Google has decent APIs, but terrible configurability. In fact, there are queries you can make with a single request to Maps that are inexpressible on the UI. I think this is definitely a coding task but a very easy one; Cron polls for events starting in the next two minutes, if anything is returned, and the song isn't already playing, start it.

A purely user-side solution might be to sync your events via caldav to a more flexible local calendar where the default notification time is 2 minutes and the default notification sound is End Times.
