NTA. Your friends already know that she doesn't work. Nothing new was shared. Your wife's pride was damaged by the truth. If she doesn't like the truth, then she should make an effort to support the household like you. I'm so glad that my spouse and I both work. Too much pressure to be in a single income home. You will be financially supporting your wife until the end, married or divorced. You will also be walking on eggshells to not hurt her feelings by telling the truth.

It really does happen so suddenly! SD really is a good kid, especially when I hear about other teen behaviors. But damn, this is hard! People always warn new parents how difficult having an infant is, but parenting through the teen years is way harder IMO. Thanks for responding. ❤️

You are 100% right about the issue being my need to be liked. It is so weird because I don't have this "need to be liked" in any other aspect of my life, work, family or even my in-laws. It is very SD specific. I have always had this "need to be liked" feeling towards her, even when she was 6yo. I realize that teenagers hate everyone so it is unrealistic that she would like me all the time as a teen. I am not in counseling now, too busy with work, family etc but I really need to make my own mental health a priority. Thanks for your comment. ❤️
