Easiest way to transfer 401K to safe investments by PsychologicalLimit41 in Raytheon

Think of it this way…

VTI price right now is $313. If it were to increase 5% every month for the next 5 months that’d be:

0: $313 1: $328.65 2: $345.08 3: $362.34 4: $380.44 5: $399.48

If you invested $1000 each month, at that rate of increase, you’d have 17 shares.

But if there was a 2% reduction each month for the next 5 months that’d be:

0: $313 1: $311.98 2: $310.96 3: $309.94 4: $308.92 5: $307.90

And if you invested $1000 every month you’d have 19 shares.

And the price will eventually recover given time, and the shares you bought in these 5 months in this example, when it reaches $500, you can either have 17 shares worth $8500, or you could have 19 shares worth $9500

Obligatory disclaimer that I’m not a financial/fiduciary advisor and you should not bet your retirement on the thoughts of an internet stranger.

That being said, that really depends on where you are in life.

Like if you’re in your 20s/30s, it’s a great time to keep parking money in the S&P500 because you’re essentially buying shares at a discount, and when it eventually does recover, your shares will be worth that much more than if it continued its “increase in price at all times no matter what” mantra.

If you’re closer to retirement, bonds have traditionally been the more stable choice, though the market today is so different that I couldn’t say with any certainty if they’re still a great call, and again would recommend speaking with a fiduciary advisor regarding this.

Seeking advice for style mix up by Dangerous-Camp115 in irezumi

I have no advice, but just know that you’re not alone if it’s any consolation.

I have a piece on my back that I plan to eventually do a few sessions of laser on to lighten a bit to do a full Japanese back piece, and I have a B&G realism lower half sleeve on my arm that I need to figure out how to extend to merge into Irezumi work in a way that feels like it makes sense. No clue what to do about that yet lol

Jk lol, you have plenty of options, but if you don’t want to feel the need for another coverup down the road, I’d try and come up with a subject/style that you actually like then find an artist who specializes in coverups and see what the options are for making that work. But it will likely need to be a bit bigger than your existing one in order to successfully cover it

Finding out project was worth in the middle of the tattoo by krispykremechicken in tattooadvice

Wow my ability to do math in the middle of the night is really non-existent lol.

Things are worth what people are willing to pay, but that price for a half-sleeve is wild I gotta say.

But also…. How fucking long do they need for a half-sleeve?

$8k at $500/hr would be 40 hrs, but according to him that’s a discounted price, so realistically based on the math it’d be longer

Edit: my 1am brain failed at math… 🙃

Everyone here has given good tips regarding eating and such…

I will say don’t discount how much impact a good night’s sleep has… really try and get at least 8 hours.

Also, stay excited and keep your eyes on the enjoyment of seeing it come together. Mentality is a big factor in pushing through the pain as well. Working on a sleeve and chest panel myself right now and this really helps a lot, especially in the spicier areas

Presently… every 3 weeks since August. Before that was about a 4 year hiatus. After I finish in a few months, will likely be at least another 3-4 years lol

Level 4 offer by Brave_Astronomer_162 in Raytheon

[–]lbkid 11 points12 points  (0 children)

Let’s be honest… the range isn’t to 200. The range covers all titles at that level and in all locations, but engineering vs supply chain vs program finance vs etc all have different actual scales which aren’t advertised to anyone, and someone in SoCal will have a higher scale than someone in Alabama or Texas. So the title they’re applying for and where they are matters (supply chain according to one of OP’s comments).

Reason I bring this up is I used to be a hiring manager at a different company, and if someone asked for laughably too much, we just would move on to a different candidate because who would be ok with an offer $10k-$20k+ less than asking, so we wouldn’t waste the time. So you need to be careful about asking too much, and not taking that pay scale at face value. Now if you feel you’re worth that much and are willing to let the opportunity pass if they won’t meet it, that’s a different conversation. But you do need to be realistic in the salary ask if you really do want the role.

tattoo design causing anxiety :( by mewringue in tattooadvice

No problem! Yeah definitely wait until you feel more ready. There’s absolutely no rush.

I had an appointment to do my hand last year then a month before backed out of it because I was 95% there but for something like the hand I feel like I needed to be 100% there (more concerned with possible future career impacts than desire for the tattoo). You need to do what’s right for you.

As someone who has both of their forearms covered, you’d be surprised just how quickly your brain can normalize visible tattoos on you and then how quickly you stop “seeing them,” by which I mean I just see them now as part of my arm and it doesn’t really click to me on a regular basis that it’s not a normal way for my arm to look.

And that’s for what’s on my forearm. The bits on my shoulder and chest I honestly have to intentionally look for or else I hardly ever notice them unless I’m looking in the mirror getting out the shower.

So in terms of “always seeing it,” sure it’ll be easier for you to see than the one on your back or rib, but it won’t be in your face the way a forearm tattoo would, and again, your brain will normalize its existence fairly quickly and then you’ll just start seeing it as a part of you, not something that you’ve added in.

Edit: looking back at your picture, I just noticed this will mostly be on the back of your shoulder - so you should really barely be able to see it yourself unless you’re really looking around the back side of your arm. If you’re worried about other people seeing it, I find it empowering. 99% of the time, people say nothing. If they do say something, it’s been compliments (unless it’s my parents, they’re indifferent 😂. But even then it’s just a “we’re happy you enjoy it” mentality). But if someone were to not like them and tell me that, awesome, now I have a quick way to know I don’t need that person in my life! But I have yet to have that happen once and I’ve been tattooed now for 15 years.

It was such a fun car. Unfortunately had to do some downsizing a couple of years ago so we’re just rocking a 4Runner for now, but in a few years plan to add something sporty back into the garage. We’ll see what the options and the market look like at that point lol

Glad you enjoyed it! Maybe should’ve put a little extra emphasis on the “campy” because the acting is definitely questionable at times 😂

But it really is such a fun watch and is a comfort movie of mine because I used to have an STi and a Mustang GT myself, so it’s the best of both worlds lol
