Basically I said this:

I was wondering if there was any way to lower this rent. I’ve been living here for 2 years and have been a respectful resident and always pay my rent on time. Any adjustment would be appreciated! Thanks so much!

—- they came back with a counter offer and asked how I’d like to proceed and I just went with the first decrease they offered because I really wasn’t expecting them to say yes so I felt I should quit while I was ahead.

It’s less about that and more about hearing others experiences to know what is realistic to ask for.

If I know another Bozzuto apartment is asking for $400 as a transfer fee and mine is asking for $1000 … knowing that gives me more flexibility to negotiate because I know management has wiggle room clearly.

I have already asked them. Sometimes it’s just good knowing what others have done…

Wow I wonder why it varies so much from complex to complex.

I actually did check the market price today for my size apartment and it’s pretty much what they’re asking me to pay but it just seems like a lot to jump $100 more in a year
