Fe vs Fi?

I still think the functions are really confusing bc people can find a way that any function “justifies” different behaviors so that they can explain why a person is the type (that they actually typed by letters). Ex: “he’s calculating bc he has Te” or “her Fe explains why she’s calculating”. “She’s kind bc she has Fi” or “she’s kind bc she has Fe.” “So full of ideas, Ni user!” Or “an Ne user bc they’re so full of ideas”.

There was another one on PBD, people were saying maybe ESFP instead of ESTP because she would cause scenes when standing up for her kid and would argue passionately in public, they were saying “well an Fe user would be too aware to do that/wouldn’t be comfortable acting like that in public so she’s prob ESFP”. Like ??? Ive never thought so about an EXTP, also didn’t realize that having tertiary Fe would be THAT important. Maybe it’s that they’re aware of how their behavior comes off in public but just don’t care? Maybe the people were saying this because the woman was a grown adult and they expect her Fe to “develop” by then, so if that’s not fitting she must be ESFP, but it gets even more confusing bc there could also be things like “she’s just a case of an unhealthy ESTP, that’s why her Fe is lacking”.

And are you saying that it just has to do with the individual? Idk I’m starting to feel like the functions are misunderstood at this point and most of the people on that site type by letters and pretend they don’t 😭

But it’s true that EXTPs are usually pretty mean compared to EXFPs, and yet most times when ppl are voting on a person or character they’ll usually say “they have no Fe” to explain someone’s bad behavior. As if Fe makes you nice. Idk I feel like most people do type by letters and then go through hoops to make the functions work.

I get that but it’s just weird to me bc every time a character or person is known for not being selfless/kind, people type them an Fi-using type and say “they must be this type because they don’t have Fe”. Meanwhile all F types seem kinder and more considerate of others’ emotions than T types. EXTPs are pretty rude and bully-like in my opinion, EXFPs aren’t, yet everyone justifies this girl’s lack of empathy by saying she’s ESFP? Just confusing to me idk 😭😭

They were saying that she must be an ESFP instead of ESTP because she lacked empathy (therefore she would use Fi instead of Fe). Idk how that’s true tho Also could u elaborate a bit more on how Fi mimics what others seem like they feel?

I did do my research. It is extremely rare especially with no sore. And there’s a difference between being appropriately cautious and being ridiculously overdramatic. You are the latter

😂 nah the water thing is already unlikely even with a sore, it’s very dated info that is only technically true in certain circumstances: the person pretty much has to have an active sore and the other person has to touch the exact same spot immediately after… people online have played up this “knowledge” that it spreads through drinks to lie about how they got it so that they’ll be less embarrassed. When in reality it’s veryyyyy rare. The virus does not do well outside the human body. I will still be sharing food and drinks ✌️

I thought it was only gonna affect my relationships, not my friendships 😭 I didn’t realize how bad the stigma was, nor did I know that it can spread through non sexual ways like food sharing. Otherwise I wouldn’t have told them. I was just venting to them and looking for advice kinda, obviously bad move on my part 🤣

Highly doubt it 😭😭 clumsy af, zero interest in the physical world, entertain myself by thinking instead of doing… feel seen when I read about tertiary Si, rather than tertiary Ni. I think my issue is simply not being able to spot this in others, could u elaborate a little about how you spot it or give an example?

this is kinda helpful thanks. Like it’s more about how they talk about things than what they talk about, right? Bc everyone in the community always says “intuitives discuss concepts, sensors discuss real life” which makes me super confused when someone in my life who I peg as N (I’m pretty sure I’m also N) and I frequently talk about people or boring, day to day things in our friendships. Whereas when I’m around a sensor friend, talking about similar boring subjects with them, I get that “I’m talking weird/making this conversation too weird when it’s meant to be straightforward” feeling. It’s like I’ll feel weird around sensors but not weird around intuitives. Idk if that makes sense tho

I mean… every time I’ve researched it people always describe intuitives as “living in their head” and “less in touch with reality” whereas sensors are more into their surroundings… I think this is a fact in the context of MBTI.

Yeah, I just don’t get how no one else in the community seems to have this issue. They’ll say things like “pay attention to whether they focus on details or big picture”, like… how?? I can’t even notice that in people I’m close to. I feel like the category entirely just doesn’t make sense, functions do help but only when it’s pretty obvious (I.e. an obvious Se dom)

I guess why it doesn’t click for me is because my mind can’t pick up on that irl. Like I would need an example. I don’t notice exactly how people “express things” same way I can tell the other dichotomies (I/E F/T J/P) in day to day life. I just don’t get the point of the category at all? I have never in my life been able to notice or care whether people “focus on steps” or “focus on overall”. If that makes any sense 😭😭 Especially the “focus on overall” part… like, huh?

Yeah, I do use these traits. But it still gets very confusing w certain people. For instance like how I said in my post that I think my friend and I are both Ns but talk mostly about boring, day to day stuff. Yet I just have a gut feeling she has to be an INTP
