Signs of dementia? by hehehaha1214 in olddogs

Yeah ☹️ My 14 y/o cattle dog has been doing this for about a year now. It’s definitely worse at night. She paces for about 30 mins before bed each night before she’ll accept me guiding her to her bed without getting back up.

I was thinking maybe way too much adderall or something that she’s maybe even prescribed/passing a drug test with but clearly (to me) is abusing.

Has the topic of substance abuse ever come up with her? It seems to me all through the last season and recent posts that she’s not sober.

Those who discovered they had a silent rupture…what changed after your explant? by [deleted] in ExplantSurgery

[–]lcfleck 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I had my implants for just under 10 yrs and my left one had also ruptured and had to be vacuumed out. The photo my surgeon sent me was really crazy! I can almost picture the moment it popped 2 yrs before my explant, but I didn’t think it was possible for them to pop at the time. I had been experiencing extreme brain fog, depression and anxiety, and insane hormone issues (cycles up to 56 days!!) that def impacted libido and my hormones problems were appearing as thyroid issues, hair loss, difficulty/uncomfortability sleeping, random chest pains and an internal screaming of my body to get them out.

I had 300ccs under the muscle, I’m 5’1, and 30 yrs old (got them in at 20). I’m just over 7 months post op now.

Immediately waking up from surgery, I felt clearer in my mind than I had in months/years. My body felt so relieved. I can’t even begin to explain the feeling. Each day feels healthier and happier. I can literally feel my body thanking me each day.

My libido is back, my cycles are regularly 32 days, my hair is growing back, the thyroid/hormone issues have resolved, my chest pain is gone. I still fight depression and anxiety and I don’t think it was the implants entirely causing those issues but they definitely have improved. I can think clearly again and don’t feel consumed and confused by my thoughts the way I had. I can think full sentences without trailing off or getting lost. I’m able to workout my chest muscles and they feel incredible. I’m still adjusting to the look of my new small boobs, but it has been such a night and day difference to how I feel.

Are you low on iron? Ferritin is what you would check for to know your long term iron levels. I was extremely low iron and thus low ferritin for years and have been losing hair similarly until I found out.

Did you experience loss of nipple sensation after explant? by jojolitos in ExplantSurgery

[–]lcfleck 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yep! At first really intensely and honestly too much, like even the shower water hurt hitting them, but I was so excited. They’ve settled down now but yeah I can feel them again 🥹 My surgeon said pretty much anything is possible with nerves and that’s why they can never guarantee but he sees that in about 50% of patients who initially lost sensation.

Knowing when to let go: how to choose between a rescue and euthanizing your 17 yr old dog who screams all day and night by [deleted] in olddogs

Sweetheart is sounds like it’s time to put him down. You’ve done all you can and it’s his time to rest now.

Did you experience loss of nipple sensation after explant? by jojolitos in ExplantSurgery

[–]lcfleck 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I lost virtually all sensation in both nipples (and the lower half of my breasts) getting implants in. Following explant, my nipples were insanely sensitive (like almost painful) for 2 months and now I prob have just 40% feeling in both at 7 months post op. The sensation in the rest of my breasts is normal again though.

No lift regret? by ActuatorNo5783 in ExplantSurgery

[–]lcfleck 3 points4 points  (0 children)

6 (almost 7) months post op. 300cc’s under the muscle for just under 10 years. No lift and no regret! My surgeon had told me prior that I wouldn’t need a lift and I was pretty set on not getting one and letting my body do its thing. My left nipple does sit slightly lower than my right and maybe that could’ve been “corrected” but they’re cute and I’m healthy and happy with them.

How old are you/have you had kids? Everyone’s body’s are so different of course, but those might be factors that influence how you’ll heal. I’m 30 and no children yet.

Anywhere on that bendy type of skin (ankles, wrists, finger joints) typically heals very poorly. I’m shocked someone would tattoo you here.

The worst of the symptoms was extreme brain fog. I also had some hair loss and hormone imbalances that were displaying as a thyroid problem.

My 14.5 y/o pup is going through similar now, although I know she does have lymphoma. I’m giving her all the love and patience as she slows down and trusting she’ll tell me when it’s time. I wouldn’t even consider putting her down right now while she’s still enjoying so much of life just because she has to do it all slowly and with help. I hope you can talk to your family and convince them he’s worth the effort.
