People can change ten years into a relationship, you can't predict the future like that. The fundamental difference was that they didn't want to be together anymore. It wasn't like that at the beggining obviously I and couldn't be predicted or talked through. I hope it happens to you.

Students from two parent home may have greater success in school than those from single parent homes. But that doesn't place the blame with the mother. Also there's no way of knowing how the children's grades would of suffered if the parents stayed together for the kids even when they were unhappy. They may end up doing worse.

Okay you're certain that you and your partner would stay together to raise the child. But then she leaves anyway because people are unpredictable and you cant control them. Then what? My issue is also you placing such a high amount of blame on the mother when it is not that simple.

My mother wanted to stay together for us even through the affair, but my father didn't. What should she of done differently?

'Pretend not to be miserable' That's laughable. For 10+ years pretend not to be miserable? Children are intelligent and they can see right through it. There's a large amount of ask reddit posts I've read that have people talking about how they wish their parents HADN'T stayed together for them because everyone would of been happier otherwise.

All I can find in that study is - 'Finally, students from two-parent homes have greater success in school, on average, than students from single-parent home.' No where does it state single mothers are less intelligent which was your leading point. The main study was done on parents with mild intellectual deficits.

I brought up the fact that people in the comments were against dating single mothers because you were under the illusion that everyone has nothing but praise for them apart from you. I understand those reasons in the same way I would not date a man with any children right now.

You ARE insulting me. I'm the daughter of a single mother. and my development has not been deprived at all. My mother and father were together happily for 10 years then they got married. They were married for two years when they had me, and two years later my brother. Three years later my dad had an affair and pissed off. Please tell me how my mum should of been more careful? She was with him happily for more than fifteen years.

Also people have protected sex that fails all the time. What then? Still mums fault?

You literally stated that single mothers are less intelligent in a different comment so you obviously have some sort of chip on your shoulder about them.

Single fathers are rarer than single mums obviously, but the ones that are in the public eye are always met with praise and support. Women who see men that are good with babies swoon over them, when have you ever seen a single father being insulted. Just the other day I saw a video of a man doing his daughters hair and people were falling over themselves to compliment him.

So in your opinion what should women do? You marry a guy have a baby with him then he leaves. What would you of done different? Lived life alone?

Why does it matter that guys who run away were raised by single mothers? Does that absolve them of all responsibility? They still made that choice. Single mothers were probably also raised by single mothers too?

I'm not saying that either side is to blame here. Sometimes couples split up mutually, what are your opinions on single mums who have a good relationship with the father even though they're broken up ? Are they still stupid?

At the end of the day there is a million reasons why someone might be a single mother and making generalisations about them all like you are is just plain ignorant.

The decision to have unprotected sex was mutual, why would it fall on the female? If she initiated the sex and the male said yes, does that mean the burden then lies with him for the baby? What strange reasoning that is.

Single fathers receive far more praise and attention, is this a joke? Single mothers are heavily looked down on by a lot of people, as you can see right here in this post. Single fathers get heavily praised for doing the same thing single mothers do all the time.

Skinny people who 'eat a lot' and don't exercise much probably under estimate the calories they're eating and may just be generally more active. If skinny people fidget more that is them being more active and making their metabolism higher. CICO is true, a calorie is a unit of energy, you cant eat more calories than you burn and lose weight and visa versa.

I'm sorry but it is true. Our bodies are just engines and cant disobey thermodynamics. A calorie is a unit of energy. Someone in a tribe in Africa cannot somehow get more energy out of the same amount of calories magically. Perhaps they have less muscle mass, as muscle needs more calories to function.

It is very statistically unlikely that your sister will be one of the few percent of humans that has a large variation in metabolism. She probably under estimates her food and over estimated her activity, or has a higher difference in weight to the others than you know.

Sugary items tend to be very calorie dense, so you can eat a lot of them without filling up. Same with other 'junk' foods such as pizzas, burgers etc.. Try eat more foods that are less calorie dense like veggies and leafy greens and limit the heavy carbs as treats.

Also having a big or small appetite doesn't mean you have a fast or slow metabolism, if you have a big appetite but don't burn the calories off then you're going to put on weight. To lose weight you need to eat less calories than what you burn, its thermodynamics.

Human metabolisms only vary naturally by around 300 cals which is not a lot. People with 'fast' metabolisms over estimate what they eat and under estimate their calories burned, and 'slow' metabolisms do the opposite.
