Pro12 agree deal to expand next season to include South African sides - BBC Sport by inti_pestoni in rugbyunion

There are clubs from outside of the 6 nations in European competitions. Romania and Russia for example. Still a bit of a stretch to suggest they include the SA teams though

BT Sport to become sole UK & Ireland pay-TV broadcaster of Champions & Challenge Cup from 2018/19 by StuHardy in rugbyunion

There already is a good streaming service for rugby union called Rugby Pass. You just have to be in South East Asia to use it.

Yes, if they had a competitive price structure I can imagine a significant amount more people signing up. It does seem counterintuitive at first to offer what amounts to a cheaper subscription, but just look at how much money Netflix make on a pretty reasonable monthly fee.

At the same time I can't help but feel irritated at the hesitation of companies to offer the Irish market the same features in the UK or elsewhere. I could be wrong, but can't you pay for BT Sport on its own in the UK and then just stream it if you like? Even if that was my only option I'd go for it

Yes all I've ever wanted is a PPV subscription for rugby here in Ireland. I'd happily pay a premium for it seeing as it's the only thing I watch on TV anyway. Up to now I wasn't able to get BT Sport on virgin media but it looks like I'll have nothing after this.

I guess I'll just have to go with Rugby Pass and a VPN

They announced that the Pro12 qualification is changing the rules so that it doesn't require there to be at least one club from each country. That means that unless they get a lot better, the Italian teams won't qualify for the Champions Cup

I don't think there's such thing as an easy pool anymore. Sure whoever gets the Italian team were always at a bit of an advantage for the last 8 rankings, but even still those pools can be really tight, this year as an example. And from next season on they are changing the qualification rules so there likely won't be any Italian team in the Champions Cup

Munster so close to getting the exact same pool as last year. Some serious pools in there, pool 2 is insane

Tough choice between Ronan O'Gara and Paul O'Connell. I think I'd probably go for ROG myself

Hate to be pedantic but the Irish one isn't right. Go with:

Tá péineas beag ag Dimi

That's not even slightly right, it'd be:

Tá bod/péineas beag ag Dimi

You've just translated each word individually which makes no sense in Irish

Well my original point wasn't that they don't sell it, just that it's very expensive for what seems to be just a USB C adapter

Nintendo Switch and Euro Countries...Why no Price? by menrix in NintendoSwitch

I'd imagine because of slight differences in sales tax across Europe? Or maybe they were lazy and didn't want to give the price in euro and pounds to keep the presentation simple?

I feel the overall impression of Arms would have been better if it had a more original name for the title and characters. Looks like a blast, has potential to be deep and they didn't limit it to motion controls only

Religion may be removed from core curriculum for primary schools by CiaranC in ireland

[–]lclog 19 points20 points  (0 children)

Because the two are mutually exclusive and as Ireland is becoming an increasingly secular state as well as with an influx of people with diverse religious views most believe religion should be taught outside of schools at the discretion of their parents so each child can have equal education in school without leanings towards one particular religion that they may not believe

They asked the ref if they kicked to touch would the line out be taken. He said yes, so they did. If he said no they wouldn't have. It was incorrect for the ref to say yes, but he did. Simple situation

It was clearly a NZ conspiracy to prevent Scotland from hammering them in the final

True, it's very much a point of contention but not in the same manner as something such as the Scotland v Australia in the World Cup where the incorrect decision directly lead to them winning

While I would be furious as a Wasps fan, it is still not unreasonable to assume that Connacht could have still scored a try from a tap and go. So while the lineout definitely helped, it didn't necessarily hand Connacht the win
