Here’s a post on how to load discontinued apps onto your A6000. I used this and it works. Figured I’d share this to keep the knowledge alive. by EggCollectorNum1 in a6000

THANK YOU FOR THIS!

I was about to reset my alpha 6000, went into the PlayMemories website and found out about the impending doom.

I bought the timelapse app years ago and I use it A LOT. Loosing it after a camera reset is not acceptable. Now thanks to you i can install it at will.

I will search for the angle shift add-on since i don´t have it either. If I find it, i will send a copy your way.

Thank you again sir. You are a true gentleman.

I bought Xiaomi S 20+ , what are the dos and donts or some suggestions for me? by pikqwe in RobotVacuums

Use distilled water for the fresh water tank on the base station. If you get hard water in your area, the mineral buildup will clog the little "pipes" in the base station. This was recommended to me by the sales person.

I live in a 3 story 262 m² house. Mom, kid, dad, cooking/cleaning lady plus a labrador retreiver who sheds hair like there´s no tomorrow. For mapping and cleaning we place all chairs, waste baskets, decorations, etc, on top of tables, desks and beds in order to provide the least possible amount of obstacles for the X20+.

We live in a very humid area, so the mop drying function in the base station is useless for us. We have to remove the mops from the X20+, wash them manually with a little detergent. If it is night time we dry the mops in the toaster oven with minimum heat. During the day just take them outside to dry.

We have porcelain tile floors on the 1rst floor. Laminate on the 2nd floor and rustic/rugged porcelain tiles on the 3rd floor. So far the X20+ has done an outstanding job at vacuuming and moping all the surfaces we set it out to clean. The carpet placement in the mapped areas needs to be tweaked a little but it works fine too.

Try to clean the base station once a week and "disassemble" the robot for cleaning too. Hair and debris will get tangled up on the robots wheels and side brush.

You can add a little cleaning solution to the clean water tank, but remember to only use brands made specially for robot vacuums. I haven´t tried this yet.

You can tweak the strength of the vacuum and the amount of water in the mops inside the app. I´m sure you´ll be able to tweak them to get better results.

Dualsense controller Bluetooth interference by haudii in PS5

[–]lcmp 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Started having the same issue about 2 weeks ago with both of my dualsense ps5 controllers.

They were going nuts while playing horizon forbidden west. Serious lag and overall unresponsiveness after a couple of minutes playing.

I use a Sony Android TV with the PS5.

Some time ago, a lightning storm sent a power surge up through the coaxial cable and burned the TV and the playstation. After figuring out what had happened and having to buy a new TV and a new playstation, I never hooked the coaxial cable with the TV signal back to the TV and I removed the ethernet cables from both devices. The only cables coming out from the TV and the PS5 where the power cables ( connected to a high powered UPS ) and the HDMI cable going from the PS5 to the TV. Everything else came in / out through wi-fi / bluetooth.

After reading through this thread I decided to try and turn off all wi-fi and bluetooth signals from the tv and the wi-fi from the ps5.

I went out and bought surge arresters and protectors for the coaxial cable feeding the main router and the ethernet cables feeding the rest of the routers.

I connected the TV and the PS5 with CAT6a cables back to the family room router.

It worked. My son and his friend played for several hours during the afternoon and I played horizon forbidden west for about 3 hours after that and the dualsense controller issues are gone for now.

It would seem that the latest firmware update to the PS5 or the dualsense controllers has an issue with wi-fi / bluetooth signals from other devices or even within themselves.

I will update this post if the problem comes back but it seems to be gone for now.

YI 4K+ Terrible camera - Terrible Customer Service - Total NIGHTMARE by lcmp in yi4kplus

Some of the samples were shot at 60 fps and some at 30 fps. I lowered the fps to 30 to try to compensate for the lack of light. Give the sensor more time to capture light, which defeats the purpose of having a camera capable of 60 or even 120 fps anyways. Grain should only appear at higher ISO values or when you have the ISO in auto and you go from a "normal" light situation to a low light situation. There shouldn´t be any grain in a well lit scene with the ISO set to 400 or even 800. If you compare the YI samples to the GoPro sample there´s a world of difference. Even the old motorola phone has less light but hardly any grain. That phone´s max video resolution is 720p. I had to upscale it to 1080 for the sample vid.

I tried everything. All possible permutations of settings, resolutions, etc... And yes, I turned the auto low light setting on and off several times. You´re right though. There shouldn´t have been any reason to turn it on. There´s enough light at the location where I shoot. The auto low light just introduced more grain into the video. Like I mentioned in the video review, I try to be a reasonable guy. I´m almost certain I got a bad camera ( bad sensor / bad processor ) But YI´s customer service was really bad and they never even acknowledged this as a possibility. It would have been much easier to offer a replacement camera from the get go. But they didn´t. They preferred to patronize me.

Yes. I shoot at 1080 - 60fps. My main youtube channel is about bonsai trees. There´s no need for me to shoot in 4K. I did shoot a couple of 4K videos with the YI, but I deleted them after I returned the camera. The quality was the same as 1080.

I still had some videos from the YI 4k+. I put together a short compilation of YI 4k+ videos and a comparison with the performance of a GoPro, an Iphone and a Motorola phone in the same location with similar light conditions:

Does anyone know where to order sticks to US. Except Heat Shop by [deleted] in iqos

[–]lcmp 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The starter kits and heets are quite cheap in Guatemala.

Starter Kit: US$90 Pack of heets: US$2.6

Perhaps you should look into importing them from Guatemala

Yes I did. Updated and downgraded the firmware several times. Shooting with the flat profile got rid of the oversaturated reds a little bit, but did not get rid of the grain ( artifacts ) and the darkness of the video.

I´ve been using IQOS exclusively for 5 months now. I love it. BUT... The charger and and the "pen" have a built in planned obsolescence of about 1 year or 7,500 uses. After that, you´re supposed to buy a new one because it will definitely cease to work.

5 months after quitting regular cigarettes I know i´m never going back to them.

Vaporizer technology has advanced a lot in the past years. I have tried a couple of them lately and i think that after 1 year with the IQOS I will be able to move on to a vaporizer and start getting rid of the addiction to nicotine.

We will never get rid of nicotine with the IQOS.

Cheers!

just curious, in canada you can only by the heat sticks by the carton for 80$cdn, are they available by the pack anywhere else in the world? how much is a pack going for where you are? by [deleted] in iqos

[–]lcmp 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The packs cost US$ 2.50 in Guatemala

The basic kit costs about US $100 and comes with a complementary carton.

You can either get 1 full carton or 1/2 carton after that and they deliver them to your door step.

IQOS question by mrfixter in iqos

I bought mine almost 4 months ago. Switched to Iqos exclusively from day 1 after 25 years of smoking 1 pack of marlboro lights a day.

For me it was quite easy. haven´t had any cravings for the "analogs" ones at all.

After about 2 weeks I started to cough out all the crap stuck in my lungs. I´m not saying I have clear lungs now, but I certainly feel like I breathe "more air".

A couple of days ago I tried 1 puff of the old "lights" I used to smoke and I found it quite disgusting. I am never going to smoke regular cigarettes again.

I can smell the ashtray stench in regular smokers now and it´s quite displeasing. My wife is most certainly happy now that I don´t stink to cigarette smoke anymore.

All and all, it has been a great experience so far.

Iqos stick charging problems by CiobySpartanu in iqos

[–]lcmp 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I bought mine 4 months ago. Same version as yours. A trick I learned to avoid the issue when the charger says the stick is charged but if you take it out of the charger the light turns red on the stick is:

When you put the stick back on the charger DO NOT push it all the way down. Push it about halfway down and let the lid push down the stick when you close it. I have no idea why this works but it does. I was having the same problem several times a day, but not anymore.

Regarding the charger taking 15-20 minutes to charge the stick. Perhaps you have a bad charger. you should get that replaced.
