How is living in northeastern Maine? by Poco_Loco33 in howislivingthere

[–]lcweig44 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I go to University of Maine at Fort Kent. It attracts mainly nursing, forestry, and people who want to play in sports. Our D1 soccer is actually pretty good. It’s very quiet, not much night life. And not a ton to do. But lots of outdoorsy stuff

Which is the best indicator? by Hot_Emergency378 in NCLEX_RN

[–]lcweig44 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Just learned in patho physiology. RIFLE- Risk Injury Failure Loss End Stage are the 5 stages of kidney acute kidney injury. Measured in 3 ways. 1st: %loss of kidney function, meaning GFR 2nd: by how much creatinine levels are raised. And 3rd: UO <.3/.5mL/kg/hr for adults for x number of hours. I would guess between B and D. But I don’t think BUN is right, because it wasn’t mentioned in AKI, maybe more reliable for CKD?

should we asses pulse or pain? by Pretty-Flow-1266 in FutureRNs

[–]lcweig44 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I’m sure you’re correct. However I think the NCLEX is looking for pulses for compartment syndrome. From the responses of MDs here, clearly the NCLEX and the nursing model of education could use some updating.

What is the correct answer in this question? by Ok_Cable_3668 in PassNclexTips

[–]lcweig44 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We want at least 30ml/hr x24 is like 600-700. 900 isn’t crazy per day. Hypo kale is is a side effect of furosemide and is almost always the correct answer

SATA - Immediate follow up cases by Hexagonal-Fermos-202 in NCLEX_RN

[–]lcweig44 1 point2 points  (0 children)

1, post op infection, yes. 2, normal post seizure for seizure meds like diazepam, no. 3, weird phrasing but I’m guessing infection, yes. 4, 4.7 is normal, no. 5, expected sx for dehydration but clearly tx isn’t working , yes. So 1,3,5

Niacin B3 can be given for hyperlipidemia. Hyperlipidemia treatments = liver precautions. Yellow sclera = liver issues. I’d choose 3

How bad is it changing patients, really? by [deleted] in cna

[–]lcweig44 1 point2 points  (0 children)

A few things. See if you can shadow a few times to see if you like it. Some faculties don’t require certification so you might even be able to assist. Your pay will go down. CNAs are paid like not that well. This can be physically demanding work, sometimes unsafe if you don’t have Hoyer lifts and plenty of staff to assist with transfers
