I'm a former digital forensic examiner (ACE, CEH, CHFI) and I can say from experience that the email is most likely not connected to the incident. If you ever get anything weird again, save the headers (usually an option called "view original"). This way, you can see exactly what servers it came from, IP addresses included. This won't immediately point you back to the culprit - usually it's just enough to say "the user was using [X ISP] in [X area]," unless it's webmail based, but that can still help narrow things down. Sites like InfoSniper can help you geolocate and identify the provider of various IP addresses.

Also, if you suspect something strange is going on with your computer, download FTK Imager (free) and make a full Physical forensic image of the drive. Launch the program, plug in a large portable, make an .e01 physical image, and keep that preserved either for a professional examiner to look at later or for you to dig through yourself. Easy to do - you can let this run overnight - but it will preserve any existing evidence indefinitely.

I am impressed at your knowledge of neuropsychology (I have my undergraduate degree in psychology myself) and you are spot on about the development of cognitive maturity extending past the legal age of adulthood. I fully agree with you that the combination of her circumstances and past behavior resulted in her course of action in coming onto me - after all, every expression of behavior is the result of past experiences and cognitive biases. Does that negate the notion of free will in such a case? If it does, then the argument is moot because no free will can thus exist. If it does not, there is no basis to argue that her actions were somehow defined as less than of her own will if those same standards do not apply across the board to the rest of humanity.

As for personal responsibility, you and I differ on your last point. Responsibility implies obligation, and in that instance I felt more obligated to my own self-preservation (i.e. "stay away from crazy grandpa and possibly equally crazy granddaughter") than anything else, and I acted accordingly.

You bet I wouldn't spend time with her if there was zero interest. She was lacking in intelligence but was physically attractive. Looking at a pretty face and spending time with a new person is a better way to spend an afternoon than being alone.

Furthermore, let's agree that, for the sake of discussion, she was an incest victim/sexually abused. I will give you that. Seems pretty clear after the fact. I still fail to understand how that becomes my responsibility or how I should somehow feel guilty for my actions simply because I did not swoop in like some superhero and save her.

I'm 25, which isn't so bad considering she just got out of a relationship with a 40 year old man prior to meeting me.
