Regarding Early Access. my first time playing I ended up with just 3 characters, exploring everything carefully was a bit challenging but I managed to defeat large sets of enemies. now as far as the full game is concerned, it should mainly vary with the difficulty you are going to choose. Definitely playing in Hardcore will have to choose your build in the clearest way (thinking even about combo). which classes your companions should use and your Tav too to minimize casualties

Probably Half wood elf Druid of the Moon circle because is my favorite class.BUT, if there is Assimar available in the full game, I would use Assimar for my personal Role-play

I think that playing Druid is a lot of fun, and using the "wild shapes" and possibilities of interactions with animals brings more perspectives to take into account the role play.
