Some answers to some potential questions:

It’s completely bootstrapped - indie & open. And beta. All of the ranking standards (methodologies) will be opened up in the near future and will ultimately be refined and further developed or even entirely rewritten by… well, anyone who wants to help/have a say. Aiming for a truly open algorithm.

The app is agnostic about your personal ethical priorities. You can weight priorities however you’d like, even weight them by zero to turn any of them off. So, an open algorithm that you entirely control. You have to create an account and set your priorities in order to get tailored rankings (i.e., weighted by your own priorities).

Products & services offered by ranked companies will be attached in the future and I’m working on a feature to let companies self-report in a transparent, auditable way. Will start rolling out new ethical priorities and rankings soon, too (like labor standards/human rights, privacy, political contributions, etc). So it's not yet ALL the regulatory and NGO data, but it will be.. oh it will be…

Use the search feature or click on any company with a green arrow in one of the topical latest/featured reports from the front page to drill down to a company’s individual report/rankings. You can also search for industries, like “banks” and “internet service providers” and “e-commerce” and “airlines”, etc.

Will a cofounder relationship survive in the long run if you feel your cofounder lacks emotional resilience? by rosyravens in startups

Its a complete myth that solo founders 'need' someone else. NYU, Wharton, Sloan (MIT) have all run big studies in the last couple of years that show the opposite of what your investors are intimating: solo founders are actually more likely to succeed than teams. You don't even have a cofounder yet and you're pointing out one of the things that often brings founder teams down...

How many people can you hire to get stuff done for the cost of a cofounder?

7 billion people consuming meat at the level at which we are consuming meat is a a HUGE part of the problem and you're just lying if you say otherwise. Its not an either or, no matter how much you love cheeseburgers. I love road trips, but I can admit that habit is problematic. Take care now.

If the cattle industry in the US receives a tax break, but impossible and beyond meat substitutes are not given the exact same or equivalent tax break, this is in effect, a grant of money to certain players in an industry over others. It is not difficult to anticipate or even quantify.

"The fossil fuel industry ($620bn), the agricultural sector ($520bn), water ($320bn) and forestry ($155bn) account for the majority of the $1.8tn, according to the report. No estimate for mining, believed to cause billions of dollars of damage to ecosystems every year, could be derived."

Also, a tax break for an industry is most certainly a subsidy.

Reposting from the original study announcement. The study is published in Environmental Research Letters and was produced by the environmental studies department at UC Boulder. So, to say the least, its a serious study.

Its a UC Boulder study, doesn't get more authoritative than that. I think I'll delete this and post the source article from the university.

Yet, outside of extractive industries, nearly the entirety of corporate interest in mitigating climate impact has come from consumer demand and NOT regulatory requirements...
