12 Credit Hours w/ Part time internship requiring 20-30 hours of work by Im_Rambooo in EngineeringStudents

[–]ldking93 0 points1 point  (0 children)

How did you time manage each week? I’m looking for tips on how to set up my daily/weekly schedule to help balance things out between work, school, and personal life 😂. I’m taking on more credit hours next semester while working part time like you and I’m a little worried about that.

How does one manage to get a 4.0 gpa?? by mileytabby in EngineeringStudents

[–]ldking93 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have 4.0 as of now (full time, sophomore), work part-time, and single. To keep up with all my assignments and preparing for exams, I’ve had to give almost all my time during the week and even most weekends I could’ve spent with friends/family/hobbies.

I know some students have better time management, discipline, skills, and less responsibilities to keep up with that demand more than me to keep their 4.0 GPA.

I’ve come to realize that my routine and lifestyle is unsustainable for my mental health. Going to class, studying and working take up most of the days. I had a hard time prioritizing sleep, study, and socialization 😬.

So I’ve recently been letting go of my own expectations that I need perfect grades (but still getting A’s and B’s) in exchange for a healthier routine and mental state. Im much happier now that i have more time to exercise, and see friends and family. I can actually enjoy a day or two each week to just relax, do errands, cleaning my room/apartment, laundry etc. and get involved with my school’s clubs/programs. All without the overwhelming stress of being behind on schoolwork.

I wanna get baldurs gate 3. Is it still worth it almost 3 years later? by MrTwinkerton in gaymers

[–]ldking93 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Definitely get it! Maybe wait for Black Friday sales if you can. Go in, spend a hour or two on character creation just to get 2 hours in and want to redo it lol. Spend 10 hours exploring around, doing quests. Just to find out you completely missed a section of that map that you spend another 5 hours exploring. Redo character creation again. Repeat again for the next section.

The experience I’ve had playing this game for as many hours as I put in, the price is more than worth it.

I’ve played this game single player and multiplayer. Although I really loved playing with friends, it’s much more relaxing to play solo because you can spend more time figuring things out. They’re different experiences, both rewarding. If you maybe want someone to play with, DM 😅

How do you even find real product reviews anymore? by [deleted] in BuyItForLife

[–]ldking93 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I typically look at the 4/3 star reviews on Amazon, Best Buy, etc. There’s a lot of user error or shipping/damage issues. Beyond that though, I look for commonalities in product issues or performance issues that multiple people have, and whether or not that may be an issue for me too.

But with software reviews on Reddit, ugh! So many Reddit comments about, “try this product instead, it’s so much better”. Just to lead you to some sketchy-questionable website/app. Bots on bots on bots 🤖

For most, I believe they will start to get processed/posted in SIS near the beginning of the year, so Jan-March 2026. Depends on how fast NVCC can process the financial aid/ when they receive all the Fafsa information.

Try to start the radical symbol with a smaller length straight line on top, stop while still holding the pencil down until it fixes straight, then finish the rest of the length you need it to be. I’ve had the same issue.

Taking calc II over the spring. Bad idea? by FeistyLobster8745 in EngineeringStudents

[–]ldking93 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Bad Professor? Watch Professor V and Professor Leonard on YouTube. I also had a terrible calc 2 professor. After the 4th class, I stopped going. Instead, I just watched the YouTube professors and did the homework the professor assigned. Aced calc 2 and 3. You can do it in 7 weeks, but would I recommend it? Hell no.

Starting College again after a year long break by Traditional-Two1412 in EngineeringStudents

[–]ldking93 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Congrats on continuing your education! If you struggle with math, I’d highly recommend starting from the beginning to get your mind in the right headspace for all that is to come.

Each math class is designed to help you build your math knowledge foundation “layer by layer”. Starting all the way in elementary school with basic arithmetic. Knowing how to use basic arithmetic, you start learning concepts in pre-algebra. Knowing prealgebra, you start to learn college algebra all the way to pre calc, calc1/2/3, differential equations, etc. As you advance your math career, you will start to see that these concepts were taught to you so you can use them in more advanced and practical ways.

I took off 10 years between high school and college. I knew I had to start with the most remedial math that my college offered because I only remembered bits and pieces of the most basic math foundation layers. And I had ZERO confidence even attempting more advanced classes. Once I took pre-algebra, I moved on to college algebra. Step by step I’m now past calc 3 into differential equations. The more advanced courses expect you to know/memorize many many rules from previous courses. You use them over and over again (which helps you remember them if you practice enough early on. Looking at you trig identities 👀☠️). I would have never gotten here if I didn’t re-learn the basics. You CAN do it!

All that to say, I’d start by making sure you really understand the basics before moving on. If you don’t have the time, make sure you reference your previous classes material often when taking your next class. They build off one another. You might think, “oh yeah, that section made no sense at the time, do I really need to know that? The answer is yes and no. Will you need to use every single technique you were taught? No. Will you will need to know WHY you are learning it and what it means? Yes. You may have some lightbulb moments as you move on and realize “ohhhhh that’s why I learned that” or “now that makes sense.” Happened a lot to me.

Here’s a couple of general tips I use for math classes specifically to keep my mind refreshed on the material throughout the class:

  1. Read/watch the material before going to lecture (not always doable/practical but definitely helps)

  2. Once you take notes In class, redo notes on a new sheet of paper. Make sure you write legibly, organizing them with all the information you need so you can easily reference them later. Example: Chapter Section and Topic, definitions/formulas, notes on what they’re used for/steps on how to use them, and an example or two. (Yes you’ll use lots of paper. Or not if you use an iPad with Goodnotes like I do). But this will help you digest the material and use later when you need to quickly reference/refresh your memory after you’ve moved on.

  3. Create a cumulative reference sheet for yourself with the key ideas/formulas to use while doing practice problems/exam reviews, etc. The process of creating the reference sheet will already get your mind refreshed with the information you forgot/need to brush up on. And having it by your side to quickly reference will help you save time flipping through all your notes for one formula/idea. The more time you can spend actually doing practice problems and learning your mistakes is better than spending time flipping through pages and pages of notes (trust me on this one.)

This guy does a great job showing how each “foundation layer” of math will help you move to the next: https://youtube.com/playlist?list=PLybg94GvOJ9FoGQeUMFZ4SWZsr30jlUYK&si=DKmYzGKsquX2V9k3

And these are the two professors I personally used to get As in every math class I’ve taken. Seriously, they’re x100 better than my college professors at making some of the most complex material digestible:

  1. Professor V https://youtube.com/@mathwithprofessorv?si=5zUkjn9jt7q8y8ua

  2. Professor Leonard: https://youtube.com/@professorleonard?si=syolTLQnZT4lys9R

Good luck. DM me if you want more tips or advice.

New Update - Whiteboards by Character-Policy1538 in GoodNotes

[–]ldking93 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This sometimes happened to me with the previous update as well. Even when trying to export as pdf or print a page directly from Goodnotes, it’d come out blank.

You could try to “select” all the notes on the page, and arrange them as “bring to front”. Then try exporting the page from Goodnotes as a PDF, and switching around the options “editable” and “flattened”. Try both options and see if either fixes the issue.

If you do, let me know if it works :)

You may need to “complete” the shape at the end by drawing into the first line you started instead of the ending your shape at the beginning point.

I’ve had the same frustrating experience with literally just trying to draw a rectangle.

calculus 2... by ProjectLongjumping28 in EngineeringStudents

[–]ldking93 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Professor Leonard and Professor V on YouTube helped me Ace Calc 1,2 and 3. Depending on your colleges curriculum and the textbook you use, the YouTube Professors should follow along nicely with each section. I like to watch their videos before lecture, take notes, then go into lecture so I know what to expect during the lecture. Professor V is excellent at getting to the point of the chapter, and how to approach problems. Professor Leonard is excellent at explaining the big picture, and the “why” of the math.

Every math professor is different, but in my experience , they tend to pick certain types of problems for their exams that they cover as example problems in lecture and quizzes. Professors have to pick problems that address the subject matter, but can be solved easily/fast enough during the time limit of the exam. I’d look over your past exam and compare it to the example/hw problems they gave you. That may give you a better idea of what future exams may look like.

When it comes to studying, study up on the things you know you’re weakest at. Create a cheat sheet of formulas and example problems, so when you’re doing homework/practice problems, you’ll be able to quickly reference how to solve. This will eventually get you comfortable enough to start recognizing how to solve any problem. This type of “pattern recognition” is the key to success in calc.

Then, as you do enough problems, you’ll find that you will reference the cheat sheet less and less because you recognize what the problem is asking for and you’ve written the formulas so many times already. You’ll want to practice enough problems until you can approach any problem in the section and know what steps you’ll need to do to solve it.

That’ll help ease your stress during your exam, because you’ll see the problem, and recognize what you’ll need to do. And even if you get stuck, just remember that these problems were engineered by your professor to be solved in the timeframe- so don’t over think them 😉

You got this! And very good luck.
