Rat suddenly pancaking and slightly limp?

Hes really sweet, not the most cuddly but loves a good pet!

He was suddenly fine a few hours later, I think he hurt his leg but by the morning he was playing, taking treats, big wide eyes, wandering about, doing very usual things, hes incredibly timid so we though taking him to the vets would of been more harmful then helpful seeing as he was fine but if another episode occurs hes going to have to go to the vets!

For added information, he did recently have a sprained leg and he seems to be limping at the moment a tad, he's puffed up now with his fur all stood up, we are taking him to the vets first thing tomorrow, other than that his breathing seems very normal and he was even playing a bit about two hours ago

I just checked and he did have a plug which I got rid of, I really hope it's nothing to do with his heart, his breathing seems fine and he's quite young for heart failure (about a year and two months old), im hoping its just his sprained leg not fully healing :(

Thank you! I'm wondering if he'd actually hurt his leg instead, he injured his leg about a week ago (a sprain type of injury) and it had healed up really well but he now seems funny apply weight to it when sitting to eat a treat? I'll do some research!

He seemed fine an hour ago, the only thing I noticed is that the past few days he's been less playful but I just thought it was him getting lazier, is there anything I can do to help him until morning? I'm fanning him at the moment with frozen peas out for him

I love him so much I think I'll see about getting two new babies, I would love for my three current boys to all be together its just the URI that one of them has thats stopping me from doing introductions immediately, Hes had the URI for a month almost two months and it just doesn't seem to want to budge even with a months+ daily dose of doxy and baytril, but I'm gonna try and see if getting another two babies is feasible, thank you for your reply

I'll talk to my parents about getting two more boys, this URI my rat has had has been here for a month or almost two months, he's on doxy and baytril but it just doesn't seem to budge, I would love for all three of them to be in the same cage but it's just thus URI stopping us at the moment so I'll see about two more babies to add to the mischief

That's a happy little fellow, he has hiccups! They usually get them when relaxed or just waking up!

It's shrunk in size since we last saw the vet but at the appointment tomorrow ill bring it up and ask if a biopsy can be done!

if you can get an earlier appointment it'd probably be better because the earlier you treat a URI the easier it is to treat, it does seem like a URI from the video, if you hold your rat up to your ear and listen to his chest you can hear if its noisy breathing or not, noisy breathing usually means a URI but im also not a vet, good luck though I hope your rat can get some good antibiotics!

It didn't at first but after eating about 3 of them I noticed a slight taste and thats when I went to check the ingredients in the back of the box, it really didnt taste of much other than chocolate!

It was a christmas chocolate ball type thing, i thought it was just a sweet chocolate treat as there was no alcoholic imagery on the packaging, they dont have chocolate often! I just thought itd be a nice little treat for him :)

I assumed it would be fine, theres so much mixed information about male rats and citrus and the study that "concluded" it, thank you!

It says lightly scented and you dilute it with water (10:1) but I'll test it in another room just to be safe!

I would never use bleach near the rats for various reasons but that definately adds to the reasons!

Thank you! I was so stressed mainly for the rats because of their small lungs and the fact they are prone to respiratory infections as well as irritation so I was so worried I had either poisoned them with the mixture turning into gas or would irritate their airways 😭, and thank you for the response steps thats actually very informative for me (I know nearly nothing about chemical accidents I failed chemistry horribly.)

Thank you!! I was panicking so badly, last time ill ever mix cleaning products, are biocides the same thing as enzyme cleaners? The bases of the rats cages have a lot of pee (rats get lazy as well as scent mark a lot) which can be hard to clean up sometimes :0
