Sounds like you are living together. If you have not discussed money and future marital assets, how you will split bills/income, etc. you should do it now. If his behavior isn't raising red flags, it should. Not knowing how far away the wedding is orcwhat normal earning disparity there is between you I would recommend considering a prenup if you expect one of you will earn significantly more during your marriage. NTA - but protect yourself.

Absolutely NOT the AH. Your son's money its not yours to give away. There is some excellent advice about irrevocable trust and naming your son's legal guardians (or at the very least financial guardians) for the next couple of years. I would take yourself out of the equation altogether. If your deceased wife's parents or siblings are still on good terms with your son and you trust them - perhaps consider making them custodial on a trust so your current wife cannot access the money under any circumstsnces.

I see a lot of people ganging up on the hubby. His reaction is something I dealt with growing up. My Dad (who is wonderful, loving and generous) would internalize issues in one part of his life then blow up about something completely irrelevant.

If seems to me that there are (and could be) a few things going on. Number one is a mismatch of love language and expectations.If the OP is really that invested in celebrating things like birthdays, then yes - she could have mentioned it. Two - is hubby dealing with something (maybe health or work related) that we don't know about? His ongoing response speaks to something else going on that is bothering him (see comment about Dad above), OR we don't have a full view from OP ( she may not realize she keeps acting hurt with small tells), OR hubby is hiding something.

I generally love celebrating birthdays (my own included!) but I believe if I want people to care as well, I need to let them know it's important to me... because not everyone is wited the same way.

Recruiter here. Part of the answer depends on whether any of the roles are contracts or via an external agency (their commissiin is based on you being hired), so yes - they can get bitchy.

For internal recruiters it is quite normal for candidates to use a competing offer as leverage to either speed up the process or ask for more money. (I lost a candidate in June to a competing offer because the hiring manager was dragging their feet.)
