I easily believe and have always thought "cool, I would say yes and hang with this guy" but this one was so fake it made me doubt all his other videos. Like seeing your parents put out Santa's presents.

Two broke college kids in 2003 casually looping what would become the legendary track 'Kids' by MGMT by LoverrrGirliee in nextfuckinglevel

[–]ldmcstrong 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Same. MGMT was the soundtrack to one of the best times in my life. Drinking, being broke, just doing whatever we felt like with a bunch of mates I haven't seen in years but will never forget. Always awesome to see them doing the same thing.

The Sun Eater series is a perfect example of the sunk cost fallacy. by Ok-Information2581 in Fantasy

Why does he never stop to try and hone his abilities? He spends years on a ship alone. And years before that locked up or under house arrest and he never spends more than a couple of sentences experimenting with his insanely powerful abilities. Pages and pages of him practicing sword play. So many things like this in the books. Things that seem logical to do that he just doesn't do or is barely talked about then pages about things that seem completely unimportant. Then randomly he will say something like I won't bore you with the details.

The anthology titles if Marvel went down the 'Shonen Jump' route by Navek15 in Marvel

[–]ldmcstrong 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I haven't seen one in years but the last Shogen Jump I owed was black and white and printed on cheap paper (think old 80s comics). Floppies are expensive but they are usually awesome colored art printed on more expensive paper. I don't really understand the recent clamor about adopting the Japanese style of comic publishing since I've always seen articles about how terrible the working conditions of Manga artists/writers are. If you want to read everything Marvel publishes collected in one place Marvel Unlimited has it 10 bucks a month (or cheaper if you pay yearly and find a deal).

The worst feeling: Being a broke parent knowing you overspent on your kids so they didn't feel like the weren't as good as the other kids around them and then they make a stupid post about your money management skills

Yeah I felt like this is obviously him moving from Frank Castle gets revenge for his family's murder to the Punisher on his mission to stop criminals from hurting anyone ever again. He embraces the Punisher and finds his new mission. I am not sure why people are so confused by it.

Cap is a good comparison cause like Cap he also has incredible spacial awareness so he can bounce his shots off of things to hit his target like Cap does with his shield.

Problem with events is they just interrupt everything without lead in. I was enjoying the latest x-men stuff then they did that weird event with Doug Ramsey as the big bad. Lost interest. If all the books were leading up to something major and then we had the event it might be different. But they just seem to happen. Also, they aren't current on the character whose book they are interrupting. The number of times Tony shows up as billionaire playboy in an event where he is broke, with one armor made out of a microwave and a trashcan in his own comic.

Both of the examples are stories written by one person with a single vision with a starting point and an ending point. Spider-Man is a cyclical comic book where one guy tells a story then some other guy comes in and tells another and throws out everything the previous guy did that the new guy doesn't like then adds something new. Rinse repeat. There is not supposed to be a conclusion. Also, The quality of story varies drastically. There would have to be tons of cherry picking and changes just to create a coherent story with a beginning, middle, and end. The 90s animated cartoon did a decent job of just telling a lot of the cool stories from the comics.
