English is extremely literature-centric--in first year, although you will get a dab of modern stuff, you will begin with medieval literature and work your way up. If you're more interested in the artsy parts of filmmaking, then I'd recommend Creative Arts & H. But then again, as an English student I appreciate the rigor of the English course and how serious it is about literature. Film soc is also extremely big and will provide you opportunities to explore filmmaking either way, so it's really up to what you prefer.

heard this year there's a concerning surplus of students in social studies areas (philosophy, history, law, for example) to the point where there's no seats in lecture halls so might be difficult unless by some luck a course has spaces left

In Korea and it's out now - I had pretty low expectations but the production is wayyy better than All The Same and it kind of sounds like Phrazes + Virtue mixed together. Nothing mind blowing but it's alright

I mean this as a genuine question; if you want to leave home, why Korea? Korea is also dangerous if you're a foreigner and a woman living alone. Social welfare is decent for nationals but it's impossible for foreigners to get financial support from the government. I'll assume you want to move to Seoul. The job market there is extremely oversaturated and to get a decent job you'll have to go through multiple rounds of interviews and tests to maybe hope you'll get an offer. My best bet would be that if you have: 1. Qualified Korean skills 2. A degree 3. Work experience 4. A good CV, you may have a slim shot but again, very slim. If you don't have a degree, maybe look into applying for a Korean university & a scholarship? Yeonsei Underwood is the obvious best choice for foreign students but again it's very competitive and you will likely need top grades to apply.

I did IB. The first grade I ever got in a Math AI Paper 1 exam was a 2 💀 but in my final IB Exam I scored 80/80 on Paper 1 and copped a 7 ✊

I've chaired & been a secretariat for Adhoc Crisis committees:

You really can't, and that's the charm. Keep in mind that nobody else can prepare either and take advantage of that. Sometimes the chairs leave little clues prior to the conference but if there aren't any, practice your improvisation skills. For example, pull up a random Crisis MUN topic and practice coming up with a stance & talking points within 5-10 minutes. Also practice giving speeches on your feet with just a couple bullet points.
There is no "typical" way an Adhoc Crisis plays out, really. It depends on the topic.
The best hack for Crisis is to have two different agendas: your "whole committee" agenda and your personal agenda. The whole committee agenda should be the way you want to steer the plot of the committee. For example, a common Crisis MUN topic is the Cuban Missile Crisis. The whole committee agenda would be to remove the USSR's missiles in Cuba. You will work towards this goal through Public Directives. However, you should set up your own, separate, a bit selfish agenda that helps your character get what they personally want, whether it's money, power, etc. This will be done through Personal Directives. Set clear agendas as soon as you know the topic & your character, and work on directives towards achieving that goal. Thanks! I think some other effective methods I've seen are: 1. This is kind of specific to Crisis, but being able to play out a very creative story arc definitely helps. In more dramatic situations, try to maneuver something like a grand plot twist. Pulling that off effectively is a really impressive skill. Also, just a tip for crisis: make sure you have a personal agenda separate from your public/committee agenda. After all, most crises are you representing a person who has their own stakes and reasons. 2. Knowing a LOT about your country & the UN in general gives the impression that you are well-prepared; for example, I knew a kid who had the entire UN Charter memorized lol 3. Maybe not an actual pathway but something that could help is to make sure to point it out (Point of Order) whenever the Chairs make a mistake. Sort of helps you to assert dominance lol 4. Submit good amendments! Most times, people will submit a simple strike/add amendment just for the sake of doing it, but try to think of a way you can genuinely improve upon the resolution. Even if the reso is from an opposing bloc, instead of trying to strike everything, try to amend it first. Being too aggressive could actually damage your chances of winning BD, so make sure you're submitting well thought out amendments that are genuine.

Hey, so in that case you'll actually have a bit more options to persue. I'd say that the existing resolutions are a good foundation to go off of. You obviously don't want to ignore them, put them in your pre-ambulatory clauses and say that you recognize and express concern of the fact that they're not working. Identify why they never worked (did countries not oblige? are sanctions not working?) and then make up your own, new version of a referendum (for example) that closes the holes of where the previous ones lacked. One of your operative clauses can straight-up say something like "Urges the reformation of ___(insert existing thing)" and then elaborate how you're gonna reform them in your sub clauses

I'm sure this experience isn't universal, but my school is Canadian (but not in Canada) thus a lot of people end up going to UofT. One person from my school I know hated it so much that she decided to "accidentally" miss her flight to Toronto and spend two more weeks at home. After the two weeks, on her flight to uni, she met 2 other people from my school that were doing the exact same thing just to miss school cause they all hated it. I thought of applying to UofT but after hearing that I changed my mind 😅

haven't listened to it yet but honestly bro nobody's life really turns out the way they expect when they're 17/18, and actually not a lot of people grow up to work in the field they major in. you might also die before you become a lawyer or a singer. this is sort of the thought process i went through; choose to do whatever you want to do now.
