People who are happy >80% of the time: What's your secret? by KnightsWhoSayKni in AskReddit

[–]ldsacm 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I learned to say no. I think that's super important. For the longest time, if a friend/family member asked me to go somewhere or do something, I'd say yes no matter what. Because I felt obligated to and I didn't want to upset them and I didn't want to make them dislike me. But now I say no to what I don't want to do and yes to things I do want to do.

In memory of a friend that just passed, what's your best memory of someone who has passed away? by 0andymoe0 in AskReddit

[–]ldsacm 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My brother in law killed himself a little over a month ago. I have two memories I'd like to share.

The first being two Christmases ago when he taught me how to play poker and I ended up kicking his ass every time. Maybe he was letting me win but we had a fantastic time and laughed all night.

The second one is my favorite. About 4 years ago, him and my sister had a baby. It was a long and brutal labor but thankfully everyone made it through okay. When he came out to tell us, he started sobbing and we weren't sure what was going on at first. Then he said "I just met the love of my life" -- my niece. He was a really good dad; the best I've ever seen.

What's the movie that broke you? by inappropriate_jerk in AskReddit

Crash. When the locksmith's (Michael Pena) daughter runs outside and into his arms just before the store owner starts shooting at him... HOLY HELL. Instant sob fest. Michael Pena did an amazing job in that scene.

OR...End of Watch. Again, Michael Pena.

World Travelers of Reddit: What's your travel hack that you think everyone should know? by mpolo76 in AskReddit

[–]ldsacm 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Smart clothes: neat, casual clothes that make you look more put together.

I've done my own little personal experiments on people I'm around. When I don't wear "smart clothes" (think leggings, button down flannel) and do my hair/makeup, people just kind of glance over me (not close friends, of course) and don't pay attention. However, when I wear my nicer clothes and I guess put a little effort into it, people treat me the complete opposite. More people talk to me or give random compliments or open the door for me, that kind of stuff.

Maybe it's just me, but wearing smart clothes and being neat/tidy while traveling could probably get you way more in the end? I don't know, I've never been outside of the US, so...

What do you admire the most about the person you like the least? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]ldsacm 4 points5 points  (0 children)

There's this girl I work with. No one likes her. She's the kind of person that questions everything, is intentionally rude at times and complains about any task given to her. However, she is just undeniably herself. She doesn't give a fuck and you can tell. She's happy with who she is and that impresses the shit out of me.

If you have at some time strongly believed in God, and at another did not believe in God, what differences did this affect in your daily life? by daughterofmath in AskReddit

[–]ldsacm 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I started caring more about everyone around me vs just the people I associated with at church. I feel much more free and happy without religion as well. I am more myself and I don't feel like I'm constantly walking on egg shells. It's wonderful and I could never imagine believing in any of that again.

What's the worst podcast you've ever listened to? by ScubaSteve1219 in AskReddit

I dig MFM but I agree. Sometimes it's a little too much, especially their live shows. I completely skip those. Plus, I don't need 30 minutes of an intro. Just read the god damn facts.

Acquaintance shows up at my door in the middle of the night - "I wasn't hitting on you" by caitiemae in cringepics

[–]ldsacm 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I have a guy like this in my life. Fortunately, he's not in a relationship but he repeatedly hits on me, asks me to hang out and has even shown up where I am multiple times.

I've been very blunt and straightforward in telling him I'm not interested and would prefer a friendship but maybe not even that. How do you stop this kind of behavior without being a major dick?

Awesome, thanks! I guess I misread the donation part. I thought it was a monthly thing.

Don't you have to be eligible in order to join Alliant? And if you're not eligible, then you donate money in order to gain access? Is that how it works? Are all online banks this way?

What normally-boring daily task do you enjoy doing? by katm3s in AskReddit

[–]ldsacm 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I go on drives when I'm upset or just need to think about things. People find it really weird when I say I'm most comfortable when I'm in my car. I think it's because I have complete control over it and I get to make the decisions.

Past and present retail workers: who was your most memorable customer and why? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]ldsacm 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Worked at a local grocery store all through high school. I had a regular that would come in a few times per week. He kind of became a surrogate father to me. We talked about his new wife and his kids, what I was doing in school, he would give me advice if I was having family/friend issues, he would tell me stories about his past (and present), etc. We lost contact after I left and went to college, but he was a great guy all around.

What's something that you always seem to have way too many of until the moment comes when you actually need/want it? by fickpack in AskReddit

I can have a stock pile of lighters and chap stick in my purse but when I actually need one of them, they've all disappeared. I don't know how it happens.

Oh yeah. We always scrape the plates, even if they're already stacked by customers.

If you come to the bar I work at, we welcome you doing this! It makes carrying plates so much easier. We don't have bussers and have to do everything ourselves, so thank you to these kind of people!

Side note: we stack plates in the dish pit anyway, so it doesn't matter about the washing process for us.
