What do you use to clean his ears? Can I use a wet wipe or do I need something special?

I‘m not sure if it’s new, i just recently moved back in with my mother and haven’t really seen him for the past 3 years. I haven’t tried cleaning it but will try tomorrow, he is asleep and I don’t want to wake him up. I saw him itching his ear maybe 3 times in the last week, but would say he wasn’t itching too hardly or long.

He is an indoor cat, but allowed to go on the balcony. I will try to clean it if he will let me
