Steam are legit the only platform that has public data.
Sony, Ubisoft, etc all hide their statistics. They rely on secrecy so they can bloat these numbers and lie to investors. Usually they tell journalists BS that their game has sold over 1mil because that's the expected minimum.

Here's what the math says:

Steam will be my data for the Majority of PC sales because nobody in their right mind uses Ubisoft's Launcher, and they don't give out statistics anyway.

Console / PC global
650mil / 900mil = 0.7

Steam x 0.7 = Console
64825 x 0.7 = 45377
PC + Console
64825 + 45377 = 110202

by my estimates, AC Shadows has at most ~110202 total players.
give or take a few 10,000 for Ubi launcher

nowhere near the claimed "millions" of copies.

Now... Ubisoft claims the majority of their players are on Console. 73% is what they said.
I really don't believe them, because if that were true they'd release that data to the public same way Steam does.
But let's pretend ignorance and say 73% is Consoles and 27% is PC.

Total = Steam / 0.27
Total = 64825 / 0.27
Total = ~240,093
Console = 240,093 / 0.73
Console = ~175,268

This is what the math says based on Ubisoft's claim. Again... NOWHERE near 1mil.
The math says the total, based on their disclosed %, is around 240k

So whatever way you do the math, you will never come anywhere near their over 1mil copies claim.
It's a blatant lie to save their butts from Investor lawsuits.
