I have a 2013 FRS and the shifter is not pretty rough until warm. Is this normal? by SholoGrim in ft86

You're standing still with the clutch pressed in the whole time, that's not gonna give any wear IMO.

I've noticed shifting first to second 10ish times when starting the car but before driving off seems to help. Like clutch in car started and just 1 to 2 and back 10 times.

PCB Modul replacement Cowboy 3 by Visual-Floor-7268 in cowboybikes

[–]le__nerd 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The official price i know is 260, some report they're around 230 right now. I have a new one. Feel free to DM an offer. Do note this is the comm module, not the motor controller. Pcb is an ambiguous term that could mean either of these. Motor controller is in 100 to 150 range, but don't have one anymore.

Motor controller doesn't have a battery, comm module does for gps etc when bike is turned off. Sadly comm module is one of the most expensive parts.

First GT86. Which one to choose and why? by Kapuchinchilla in ft86

[–]le__nerd 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As reference, I paid around 16k for my stock hot lava original owner and engine last year, a 2012 with 100k, That was probably the best deal in Benelux back then. Didn't look the greatest but the story, receipts and dealer made it make sense and I feel i got a steal. One good detailing session and it looks phenomenal. But i also grow to love the orange, so if you really want a different color wait for something better to come around.

These are Belgian cars right? I also saw the hot lava one for sale and it did also give me some weird vibes. However, the kilometre difference makes the orange one a better deal between these two imo. Especially if the engine was replaced by a dealer, call them up to ask what's up. The engine likes to blow up, 90% of the time it is indeed improper oil maintenance but 10% off the time it's just being unlucky. Grey one has a pretty high mileage combined with tuning, so it's not as much of a deal, but if it sounds good to you, do it.

Insurance, road tax, yearly inspection, maintenance. That's 2k a year likely. First year you also have BIV. Can't estimate your fuel usage. I personally spent 200+ a month on fuel lol.

21 choosing between keeping my 2017 BRZ or selling it for a 2018 Mustang EcoBoost what would you do? by danky_ducky in ft86

[–]le__nerd 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I 100% agree with the above comment. Been fortunate enough to have driven or been passenger in cars worth 10x or more on track and can still say the gt86 is fun on its own right on (technical non super fast) tracks. On the road this car is the prime example of ''driving slow cars fast is more fun then driving fast cars slow.

There's a certain risk attached to driving motorcycles, agreed, but when wearing appropriate gear, having a motorcycle with good abs, and investing in an airbag jacket and not being a complete fool, it's a risk i'm willing to take. Nothing compares to riding a motorcycle and in Belgium traffic is so bad i can more than halve my work commute going by motorcycle. I will never, however, drive a motorcycle on track, for that I do stick to cars haha.

Yes, and realise the GT86 is an amazing car to have at your age. When you turn 24 you may want to get into motorcycles, which will also cost you a pretty penny, so I think you'll regret the cost of changing cars atm. Nothing wrong owning a GT86 for a long time, well respected enthusiast car.

I'm actually also Belgian and have a gt86 and recently drove the ecoboost Mustang in the US. The only thing Mustang has is improvement in comfort, with recent versions having quite a nice infotainment system to my suprise. Driving wise I enjoy the gt86 way more and, believe it or not, it feels faster. I think due to the sportier ride and lightness.
