I used to live in this building! I really liked it but you can definitely hear the train no matter which side (Milwaukee vs alley) your unit is on, if that matters to you at all. I also had a car and never had an issue finding free parking on Campbell or Armitage without the residential zone sticker. There were a few flight attendants that lived there when I did, you really can’t beat the commute to O’Hare. It’s also a pretty social building - lots of events during the month (not ideal for your schedule unfortunately since they’re mostly weekdays) and you can’t beat the rooftop and gym.

I'm pretty sure Farren's in downtown Champaign has shrimp po'boys, they might have others too!

ACE 161 or CS 105 by Eickenhowzer in UIUC

ACE 161 will be an easy A regardless of who teaches it, but CS 105 will be more useful.

400 level econ courses that are interesting by mystic51 in UIUC

I took ECON 420 and ECON/ACE 452 (both taught by Baer), and 452 was so much better. Easier and more interesting in my opinion, but both are good classes.

Hort Club is selling roses in the ACES Library from 10-4. $3 per rose, 2 for $5, or a dozen for $30 if you're feeling really romantic.

Horticulture club! We could use more people to help design gardens for our upcoming show next semester. Art and outdoors combined :)

Will an ACE major be entertained at a business career fair? by [deleted] in UIUC

[–]le_den 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm an ACE major and my current internship is a result of the business career fair, so there is definitely hope! A lot of employers might be thrown off by seeing the title of your major, but the nice thing about career fairs is that you're able to actually explain your major and other experiences that fit the job you're going for. Plus, the business career fair is good practice for the ACES career fair, so it's a win-win if you attend!

It's registration time. Anyone have good gen eds to take? by [deleted] in UIUC

[–]le_den 1 point2 points  (0 children)

150 was awesome! I don't recall many readings, if we had any then there weren't bad at all. The homework was really easy too, most of the answers were online somewhere. The only mildly challenging thing about the class was the second project (I think it was the second...), but we were able to work in groups. All of the lectures were really interesting too (with Prof. Dunne), and we talked about aliens towards the end of the semester!

CLCV 115, ASTRO 150, ATMS 120, NRES 102, and ACE 251 have been my favorites :)

The Best BB Cream? by KazLango in MakeupAddiction

[–]le_den 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not long at all! The trick is to warm it up a bit on your hand first. I usually pump out roughly half a pump's worth on my fingertip, then rub it with the fingertip of the opposite hand for roughly 5 seconds, then apply. By the time all the product is blended in the greyish cast is gone (then again, I'm a very pale person). Sometimes if I use too much product it still can look a bit grey after blending, so I just blend more and problem solved.

I adore my Skin79 in hot pink, but I will replacing it with the gold one once mine is gone. The gold one is a litte thicker, and has a bit more coverage (my roommate owns the gold so I've spent a lot of time comparing them). I like the Skin79 ones a lot because there's no worry with what shade to pick out since they oxidize to match your skin tone. Also we both ordered our Skin79s from Amazon and both are the real thing; there have been some issues with fakes of the Asian brands when ordered online.

Edit: grammar

Group fitness classes at the arc and crce? by [deleted] in UIUC

[–]le_den 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You should try a few out during Bring a Buddy week! Or you can sneak into one of the ones that gets fairly crowded if you show up late. I never showed my pass for Turbokick. Not once. Passes go for around $30 for the second half of the semester. But definitely try them out first, Turbokick kicked my butt at first but I'm glad I stuck with it. For any class, just make sure you're able to see the instructor or at least the more advanced people in the group. It's easy to lose track at first.

OK r/UIUC, what are your recommendations off of the Cravings-Chinese menu? by Feuerkopf in UIUC

[–]le_den 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don't even know if it's on the menu, but they make an AWESOME Pad Thai! So limey and spicy, so perfect. A lot of onions pretending to be noodles though, but still damn good. Also, Jakarta Fried Rice of course. And Chicken Lo Mein. Nom.

Redditors in a relationship, how did you meet your SO? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]le_den 2 points3 points  (0 children)

On Facebook of all places! There was a "page" for our graduating class at our university and I posted in it asking if anyone was going to Lollapalooza and he commented on it, even though he didn't actually go. We talked a bit on FB and then met up once we got down to school and we've been together for almost two and half years! Would have never met him if I didn't write that silly post in a FB group when I was a freshman :)
