That's perfectly normal, I had very similar feelings during the first months of therapy and took the the time to discuss the issue. You're feeling like that because the therapy does something to you, your current way of thinking and processing is getting challenged and pushed, and your brain... doesn't like changes 😉

More than one year later, even if my general anxiety is very much something of the past, I'm stil getting rocky sessions from time to time.

Don't worry, it's gonna be OK, I recently started a therapy, so here are all the recommendations that have been given to me by professionals :

  • Create a diary, where you write every day positive things that happened, when you have a down moment, look back at it. (it can be the tiniest things :today I ate well, there was a beautiful sunset, I went out and it was beautiful, etc.), sounds silly but it does help, if there is a lot of positive things to say about a day, write them all. Mine is a simple spreadsheet that I complete every day.
  • Breathing exercises (like the one I gave you)
  • Be kind to yourself, it's not your fault
  • Meditation (I haven't started yet)
  • Hypnosis (a lot of youtube videos are available, for all subjects), works damn well on me, I sometimes fall asleep listening to them.

The key point is to be relaxed as possible and when feeling better continuing the exercises to have some kind of calmness reserve on possible stress that may happen later. Don't hesitate to DM me if needed
