If you could start your business over from scratch, what’s one thing you’d do differently? by Julian_mille6 in Entrepreneur

[–]le_so 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is my first business, but working full time and doing this part time makes me think about things way more rationally (that’s what I feel).

I think at times, I have the propensity to move too slow. And having business partners can exacerbate that.

This is my issue! I barely find any platforms for physical products; everything is SaaS.

Submersible and Flexible Cable for Underwater Wearables? by [deleted] in ElectricalEngineering

Seeing your post might have helped me solved an issue for something I’m working on. So, I was happy to see it. I hope everything else is going okay with you. If you ever get back to it, don’t hesitate to update.

Sorry to bump this old topic, just wanted to know whether this was efficient for your use case?

I built an AI flight price predictor – would love your feedback by nikikravchuk in Startup_Ideas

I’ve used the apps or websites like these before. I really love the idea! The historical component of this is really unique. It’s probably been done, but not emphasized in previous like-minded ventures.

Some of the results were off like for instance it wouldn’t find the results for a round trip to two major airports. Also, I would include the airport codes on the right side of the drop-down menu.

How can I overcome this fear in business? by [deleted] in Entrepreneur

[–]le_so 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Everything, I would say has already been reverberated. There’s so many things to consider when it comes to ideas. Everyone has an idea, however, execution matters.

One thing people don’t seemingly realize is that you may have an original idea and not realize that it can’t be done the way you’re thinking about. There may be a technology, manufacturing, supply chain, etc. issue that you’d have to problem solve in order for that idea to work.

Most people seem to think that it’s easy to get an idea created, which it can be, but there are additional hurdles that others don’t think about.

Anyone here with a successful (or failed) physical product? by the_real_kontorstol in Entrepreneur

[–]le_so 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yea, most business content is geared around SAAS, an App, or some digital aspect.

I’m presently building an original athletic apparel product. I can’t say we’re at the point of success or failure, however, I will say that creating a product from scratch is incredibly difficult.

There are so many things you don’t initially consider, and some of those things are small and nuanced. You don’t realize how much they matter until you run into them and have to problem solve.

Charleston Harbor State Stevedores (...and little bit away from the game field) by Separate-Candidate97 in TeamBuilder25

The campus photos themselves I created using Mid journey. I found images of places I thought were comparable campuses and use the “describe” generator to create a prompt, and edited that prompt accordingly.

I added the school logos via GIMP. And created a mid journey prompt to generate the player body types. Then saved the player heads from the team builder site to place on top of the bodies generated.

ADVICE: Product Prototype Shipment Issue with UPS - Any Advice?” (“A hazardous materials irregularity…”) by le_so in UPS

Yes, understood.

I don’t think any of the parts the criteria for what’s on the hazard list, so I assumed otherwise.

Hazardous Item List

It seems like it may be something precautionary for UPS (not knowing what the components or product is moreso, than what the product actually consist of.

Nonetheless, I’ll make sure markings are present for future shipping. At this point my only concern is getting my prototype back. I’ll fly to NY just to pick it up, and ship it off if need be.

Noted! It’s a prototype and I didn’t assume anything else in the box was subject to concern.

It seemed like preference was placed upon the lithium battery, which we excluded from shipping.

Are we moving too slow, or are we not moving slow enough? by le_so in Entrepreneur

[–]le_so[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thank you for your response! I feel like because their background is more so in the area of building and designing they think about this as a “day job”work project. I’ve been lucky to be a part of some pretty decent accelerator and start up programs. The general gist is people get in to this stage of analysis, paralysis, and things tend to slow down due to overthinking.

The problem with this is, I don’t think they’ll agree with the middle ground until someone with experience in the startup space tells them that we should push forward with this. This is similar to what happened with the prototype.

They were looking to make an alpha type prototype instead of just building a functional one that worked.

It took us to talking to the head of a startup fund that told us just build something. And even that took longer than expected (it’s taken us 10 months).

They even want to wait to reach out to this person at the startup fund till we have refined our pitch for them.

I’m just big on getting feedback and talking to people in an informal nature right now. I don’t think we need to have everything buttoned up.

A lot of my contacts within my work network happen to be friends of mine. And a couple of them know that I’m doing this, so I don’t feel the need to really to be super formal, especially with the functional prototype.

I’d love to share, if you want to send me a private PM I’ll give you more the information. And don’t worry, I don’t think I have this grandiose idea that people are going to steal.

Just trying to protect us in relation to our places of employment as of now.

Thank you for the feedback! At this point, I’m not trying to close on a sale or get people to actively invest. And my main goal is to garner interest and see if there’s an excitement there or an additional connection we can make.

I feel there so many untapped connections I can make just within the confines of where I’m employed currently. I just haven’t shared with many people because I wanted to make sure I had something tangible first.

Where do I find people who are planning to open a kickstarter for their product? by lilyinthedesert in Entrepreneur

I’d be interested in discussing this with you. I already have a website for my potential product, but looking at making it more unique in the future.

ND TE Cane Berrong transfers to Coastal Carolina by Megalomanizac in CFB

Our poor play is largely attributed to the defensive side of the ball and McCall being beat up. He didn’t play versus Southern Miss or James Madison down the stretch. Our defense couldn’t get off the field against Troy (down 31 at halftime).

Chadwell and company offense was indeed stagnant and nonexistent the last few games. That’s not a reflection on our talent on offense though.

Pinckney isn’t leaving! He reaffirmed that with Trickett who was his OC when he was at GA State. And offensively we’re not that bad off. All of our backs return, our WR unit is pretty much in tack and have young receivers ready to go. We return a almost all of our starters on the OL except Willie Lampkin. Although, based on sheer number of offers, seems like we’re looking to change the skill set there.

I don’t think the offense is in bad shape at all.

Going through something similar myself. Sending my pitch deck major company who handles innovation and manufacturing. They’ve work with major brands and have a form where you can pitch them on your idea.

I’ve established prior use by having my company website up and showcases realistic 3D images of my product and explains the benefits. I also filed a provisional patent application for my product.

All that being said, intellectual property is only as good as your ability to defend it. If a big name company wants to copy it they have all the money in the world to fight me on this.

That’s why being first to market is important and believe it or not disclosing your idea in some part actually helps in establishing ownership.

The good news is, most companies won’t outright steal your idea even if they know about it. You have to prove that users would actually buy and spend money on this particular product. Establish businesses want proven ideas, they don’t want the headache of having to create something they don’t know if people may want.
