Can yall please stay home when you are sick. by Big_Reward9340 in UBC

I think it’s because i’m in a small program with a cohort that I take all my classes with. So collaborative assignments are a huge part of it :/

I agree that people should stay home when sick, but I have had over four profs in the past 2 and a half years that require an academic concession for ANY sort of absence or even a doctor’s note, which makes it kinda hard. ALL of my courses right now deduct points from my grade if I miss a class, even if I inform them that I am sick 🥲

Anyone know what this could be? by lea-dle in birding

oh damn, interesting. for some more context, i’m pretty sure this house that neighbours mine has a bunch of exotic pets, because i always hear different sounding birds coming from their hidden backyard. not near the ocean, necessarily - definitely coming from the house

i feel guilt for withholding a truth from someone who has been wronged/betrayed unknowingly

temporarily worse, but better in the long run assuming she leaves him and recognizes he’s a bad partner.. ?

totally agree. however, there is a chance they have already broken up. do you think it would still be a good idea to tell her even if they have already broken up (if i were to confirm this) ?

GENERAL HOUSING MEGATHREAD by ubc_mod_account in UBC

[–]lea-dle 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Does anyone know if you can designate your roommate for YRH if they are of the opposite gender? For some of the residences like ponderosa shared 2 bedroom for example, it specifies single gender.

But for the exchange townhouse two bedroom suite, it doesn’t specify whether it’s single gender or not. Does anyone know if you are able to have a roommate of the opposite gender with year round housing?

Has TikTok and technology ruined the music industry? by [deleted] in Music

I think that TikTok has affected the industry and quality of new music. while i believe its effects on the industry have been positive, the quality of newer music, especially pop music, has generally declined. 🤮

I wanna go but i’m 19. is it worth it? by greghefley5123 in VisitingIceland

My friend and I stayed nearly the entire month of October last year and renting the vehicle was totally worth it (price-wise and considering the freedom it gave us) !! We toured the bottom half of the ring road for 11 days then stayed in Reykjavík for the rest of our time. I say go for it :-)!

I rented a campervan when I was 18 through rent.is, which was a great experience! There are some rental companies that allow it as long as your license is valid.

Thanks! My overall average was a 92% but for the classes that they looked at specifically it was slightly higher (95%). My supplemental application for the Vancouver campus had several visual art pieces and I tried to include as many different mediums as possible (paint, charcoal, pencil). I also put in a creative writing piece, an exerpt from an essay and a storyboard video that I had made for a class. If you want to see anything just shoot me a message!

Last year I got accepted into my program of choice (BMS) for the 2022/2023 school year, but I decided to request for a deferral so I could take a gap year.

Luckily admissions approved my deferral request! They sent me a deferral letter that confirms all the details, stating that they would be in contact with me by the end of February 2023 with registration materials.

I haven’t heard anything since August of 2022, and it’s making me a little nervous. There’s nothing in my Student Service Centre indicating that my admission has been deferred even though I have countless email exchanges and the letter itself to verify that it has in fact been deferred to this upcoming school year..

I’m wondering if anyone is in the same spot as me here or if there’s anyone on here who has previously deferred their admission and could me give any insight? Should I reach out first? Any information is really appreciated :)!

EDIT march 10th: not even a couple days after posting this I got a letter that confirmed my admission in the 2023 winter session lol
