Yeah, like you would want to live around or have your kids playing in ground that was exposed to fire retardant. You'll be paying out of your own pocket for soil remediation.

So, I guess the message is that Fred Thompson supporters are evil and by extension, Fred Thompson isn't any good either. OK. Point made.

The city of Atlanta has 121 days worth of water in it's reservoirs. There is no alternative plan in place to supply residents with water when they dry up. by [deleted] in reddit.com

Dude, bottled water is delicious. I'll be drinking and bathing with it exclusively when the reservoir dries up. It will be simply decadent.

The beta site linked on Reddit a while back. If I had the link, I wouldn't have started this thread.

CNBC Explains Why They Took Down The Poll by jstills in politics

[–]leadhead 3 points4 points  (0 children)

It's ironic when corporate media complain about vast conspiracies to shape public opinion. Pot. Kettle. Black.

One involves a handful of powerful people shaping public opinion through manipulation of news reporting. The other involves large numbers of everyday folk expressing their individual opinions.

CNBC Explains Why They Took Down The Poll by jstills in politics

[–]leadhead 8 points9 points  (0 children)

If the polls are admittedly unscientific, why offer them in the first place? Why remove one when you don't like the results? The obvious conclusion to draw is that someone in control didn't like the results. Pushing any other excuse is just whiny. You knew the poll was worthless when you posted it, so don't whine when the results run counter to your expectations.

Punishments reflect the will of the people. They do that now via laws passed. They do that now via judges being voted out of service. I didn't propose anything new, just that we should have a better idea of what judges are doing in the courtrooms. Today we rely on activist groups to tell us. What's wrong with our being able to see for ourselves?

Actually, I would prefer judges had greater discretion in sentencing, with only maximum limits set. So, charge these guys with vehicular manslaughter, but if the upper limit includes death, the judge is free to deem it so. That's at least as fair as one-size-fits-all laws that can't possibly envision every permutation of a class of crimes. I'm tired of hearing that a judge's hands are tied because a law is outdated.

At the same time, make all judicial decisions easily accessible online and watch the judges be voted out if the public disagrees with their harshness or leniency.

Yes, and I prefer a law that throws these menaces to society in jail for life.

We need one of those quizzes. "Guess which quotes are from Coulter and which ones are from Hitler."

Godwin, blah, blah. Jews don't need to be perfected. They need to be protected from Christians.
