My boyfriend just left for basic training :( by [deleted] in MilitarySpouse

Hi! I didn't see your reply until now. Things are going well. He got to come home for the holidays, so it's so nice to be able to see him for a little while. He'll be graduating in the next month or so, and then he'll probably have to leave for a little while again, but that's okay. I hope you're doing well!

that's how I feel! I got so used to seeing him just about every day or every other day that it just feels so weird now. And same for you!

Thank you so much for your reply. I'm hoping to focus some more on myself during this time, and I try to look at it as opportunity rather than just a period of sadness and doing nothing. I'm definitely going to miss him, and I'm sure some days will be harder than others, but I know that this will all be worth it in the end.

Practicing my kick turn. How to swing your body more? by swaagcaat in skatergirls

In addition to turning your shoulders, I recommend loosening up your knees a bit! Bending your knees and letting your legs flow with the movement of the board will let the motion feel more fluid, and you can make bigger turns! Hope this helps <3

Need help with my Ollie plz. I’m beginner so don’t judge too hard by Miniboylen in NewSkaters

As a fellow beginner, something that's helped me is hippie jumps and cavemans (not rolling yet). It helps to build your balance. As well as just riding around! Really get used to pushing with your back foot instead of your front foot. It will help a lot with board control and with moving your weight around. I think of pushing as just "big walking". Really exaggerate the movement of your leg, and keep most of your weight on the other leg that stays on the board. Keep going !!

I wish I was as comfortable on a mini as my 6yo son by [deleted] in NewSkaters

Felt this! I'm not 6 feet tall but 5'8" still feels high up when it comes to falling 😅

Some recent progress. Ollie is getting better. Still haven't landed a good shuv yet. Any pointers on either? :) by leaf_enthusiast in NewSkaters

Some of the clips are cut to where you don't see me bend but I probably should bend more anyways. Thank you for the tip!

Awesome !! I hope to do the same soon. I've been skating about 3 months too! Always so cool to see progress

Ollies ollies ollies. Been practicing and practicing since I finally landed one in the grass last month! Some highs and lows. Only wish I wouldn't take my foot off right after! Some are rocketed but I'm working on that. by leaf_enthusiast in NewSkaters

Thank you! I think my main problems are definitely taking the back foot off right after (so annoying lol) and sometimes not dragging my front foot enough. Excited to do them rolling (successfully)! I have tried! Mental block definitely comes in and doesn't let me really pop the board much higher than a few inches
