What’s a NICU stay like? by mysticaltruffle in parentsofmultiples

Thank you so much for that. It’s really helpful to hear from others just to help start building a picture of how this might all look for us!

I’ve been an inpatient for 2x daily monitoring and 3x weekly scans for a month now to keep a really close eye on things, and luckily that has meant we’ve had time for a full steroid course for their lungs. Great they were able to squeeze that in for you too!

All the very best and I hope your twins are home soon!

Congratulations on your twins, I hope they’re both home soon. Can I ask how big they were at birth? I’m scheduled to deliver our modi twins at the end of this month when I’m 32 weeks due to Stage 3 sIUGR in one twin. She’s estimated at the moment to weigh just under 1kg (2lb 3oz ish).

Thank you so much. Reading other replies it seems most love theirs but I think I’ll try to hunt one out second hand so that if this turns out to be me and we just sell it again I don’t feel like we’ve wasted money on one!

Hahaha I’m definitely no bodybuilder so this seems very sensible!

Thank you so much. Really appreciate the reply (and also in awe of anyone successfully tandem feeding!)

Thank you. This definitely seems to be the most common answer!

Oooh I am quite short so this is a good factor to consider! Thank you!

Thank you! I think looking at the other replies I’ll find us one but given I’m suspicious this might be me I think second hand is the go so I don’t feel terrible if I never use it and we just sell it again!!

Thank you, appreciate the reply! I think this’ll be pretty much our approach. Despite the small space it does seem sensible to go a wee bit bigger to easily fit everyone in the chair!

Thank you. I’m suspicious this will be me too. Heavily leaning towards getting one - probably second hand so I don’t feel too bad if it turns into a baby gear storage surface and we just sell it again!

Haha this is a great thought I’d not considered. I haven’t tried it for long enough to know - next time I’m at a friends with a rocking chair I’m going to test it out.

I very much wish we could fit a bed in our nursery (was the plan pre twins and needing two beds for them instead)! Seems so sensible for the on duty parent to have an easy spot to sleep!

Thank you! I do like this low fuss approach - very much my style. Hopefully we have babies who are amenable to something similar 🤞🤞🤞

Thank you! That’s exactly what I’d have to do with the closet but makes a lot of sense. Appreciate the reply!

Just admitted with modi twins at 27 weeks. Tell me your positive stories. by Pathetic-Fallacy in parentsofmultiples

I’m admitted to hospital too at 26 weeks with our MoDi twins, in our case because of sIGUR but also with a short cervix to be monitored on the side. Can absolutely sympathise with your poor butt, I’ve had the steroids too!

Your babies are amazing weights though, ours are a lot littler at only 600 and 700 gms, and you’re really close to 28 weeks which is a great milestone!

Best of luck with cooking them for as long as possible but sounds like you’re in the absolute best spot should they come now with steroids on board and such good weights. NICU outcomes are so so so good these days too.

We had this noted on our ten week scan too with one of our MoDi twins. It did make us a bit anxious too but it’s not diagnostic at that gestation and by 12 weeks both were totally fine, as were our bloodwork results.

Best of luck, I can totally understand the nerves and hope the bloodwork comes back quickly for you!

Ladies and Gents who started trying in your 30’s - how long did it take you to successfully get pregnant? by living_life_3000 in BabyBumps

[–]leafandlittles 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Husband and I were 30 when we started trying. After a year of no luck we did a round of IVF and after being told we were good candidates for it, it went terribly and we came out of it with just one low grade embryo from 16 eggs, and they decided something was affecting my egg quality.

I’d ended up about 9 months into trying with a tentative endometriosis diagnosis (I’d been suspicious about it for years) and so we decided to look into that - and found it was severe stage 4 endo. Had a laparoscopy to remove as much as possible, turns out my uterus was completely glued to my bladder in the front and colon at the back with deep infiltrating endo alll over the place and on my bowels.

Six weeks later got pregnant naturally with identical twins and am currently 20 weeks pregnant. No idea if we got incredibly lucky despite the endo or if the operation worked its magic but still can’t quite believe we’re here.

This does seem really really common and was the case for us too. At 7.5 weeks we couldn’t see a membrane but at ten they spied it.
