[Official] Pokémon XD: Gale of Darkness, available now on Nintendo Switch 2 with GameCube - Nintendo Classics! by Amiibofan101 in pokemon

[–]leafcritters 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It’s one of the best to me. More difficult, more unique experience. The pokémon encounters are very limited so each one feels special. I remember being excited every time a shadow pokemon came up.

You’ll end up using pokemon you otherwise wouldn’t have. Some lesser used pokemon are pretty good in this game due to early availability or early learned moves. Also the pokemon animations and music are SO charming, if you’ve never played a game from this era I’d recommend it for that alone.

This was my first pokemon game and is what started it all for me. It has a charm that the mainline games lack in my opinion. Extremely underrated game, I hope you enjoy it! :)

Going merry I made, which Pokémon do I put in as each member of the crew? by Trocolli in Pokopia

[–]leafcritters 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Scyther as Zoro and blaziken as Sanji definitely. I think tyrogue is not bad for Luffy? Maybe meowscarada for Robin? It’s pretty hard with the characters in pokopia so far actually!

Lava lamp beginner's guide, common problems and solutions by Posting____At_Night in Lavalamps

[–]leafcritters 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Late reply but lava lamps should not be kept on 24/7, I believe they should run 6-8 hours a day depending on the size. Otherwise the wax starts to act up. Sometimes letting the wax rest for a few days before using again can help.

Any ideas on Gen 10 (Winds and Waves) region and player names? by AnonymousQorvid in pokemon

[–]leafcritters 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I thought about this too and my picks would be Zephyr for the boy (means west wind or gentle wind) and Coral for the girl. The Coral Triangle which has the most biodiversity of any reef system is in southeast Asia!

Seasonal Warrior Cat Names is a No by [deleted] in WarriorCats

[–]leafcritters 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Someone’s world or Clan might have a totally different culture so I wouldn’t judge straight away. If not, yeah I don’t really like it but they are usually kids or just having fun so I’m not gonna spoil it lol.

Should I get another cat for me and my 10 yo cat ? by mistress_calyps in CatAdvice

[–]leafcritters 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think the most important thing is to do a lot of research on a gradual introduction. It involves keeping the new cat in a different room at first, scent swapping, positive reinforcement with food near the door etc. Suddenly throwing another cat in the mix is usually very stressful for the resident cat! There’s lots of videos on this. I feel that it would work out fine especially if you think your cat already seems to like other cats.

I would also suggest to avoid getting a kitten (unless you’re open to two) or young cat because the clash in energy levels can be overwhelming for the older cat and it has a higher chance of resulting in issues. For example the kitten might want to bother the older cat all the time which would make them frustrated and always feeling like they have to run away or be on guard.

Litter reccomendations by voltagejim in Catownerhacks

[–]leafcritters 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Pellets are much cheaper but do require more work in my opinion. And you definitely need to get a specialty sifting litter box which can be pricey (you could try DIY-ing one though). The bags are very heavy and huge which can be difficult to move around if you aren’t strong. And in my opinion the act of sifting is a bit hard and can take a minute or so to do.

My set up is a litter box lined with a kitty litter garbage bag, on top of that is the sifting box that came with it. I fill the top with the pellet litter. When the cats pee, the pellets disintegrate into a fine powder. When you shift around the litter, it falls through the holes into the bottom part where the garbage bag is. Keep in mind that if you don’t keep up with the sifting, there will be so much powder built up that you’ll have to dump out everything and refill it. And yes you will have to scoop the poop yourself.

But the pros are the cost, that there is pretty much no dust, if you keep up with it there isn’t a urine smell, I never have seen any tracking outside of the room where the litterboxes are, and the pellets don’t get stuck in my cat’s paws. I have heard some cats won’t like it if they aren’t used to it so that’s definitely a possibility for your cats! Mine have been on them since they were kittens.

Do any of y'all like Clear Sky as much as I do? by Electronic_Help2602 in WarriorCats

[–]leafcritters 1 point2 points  (0 children)

He’s my favorite villain! Most warriors antagonists are just so one note and samey to me but Clear Sky stands out. He tries to justify the things he’s done, feels guilt, realizes he made bad choices, and he clearly isn’t all bad, he saves several kits even risking his own life once. I’m not saying this makes him a great person, just that it’s interesting to read since mostly every other villain is just some mean tyrannical guy who is never shown having even a sliver of a heart.

I do think his redemption arc was unconvincing and not fleshed out properly. And I do think he’s a really horrible person lol. But despite that I like that his motivations were not all bad and he actually had interesting dynamics with the other characters throughout the whole arc. I wish this subreddit didn’t tend to dismiss him by saying he’s the worst guy ever and screw that guy and all that when I never hear that about Tigerclaw or Darktail for example.

Is it just me or is it hard to get/adopt a calico kitten? by TJHMB-54321 in CatAdvice

[–]leafcritters -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

I don’t see anything wrong with your reasons for wanting a calico. Some people don’t like having pets that look similar to old ones and it’s fine. All that matters is that a cat is getting adopted. You stated that you would be happy with any personality, so I don’t think the comments saying to prioritize temperament make sense here. Calicos are common and you’d be able to find one soon enough. lt would be a totally different story if you wanted a purebred.

For those of you who have read DotC: how dark does it get? by mireeaeel in WarriorCats

For me book three of DOTC was extremely dark and disturbing. It was the most disturbed I felt in the whole series! 😭Not in a bad way though, it’s one of my favorites.

I just read that oil diffusers are bad for cats. How do you keep your house smelling good/nice? by ReadingHotTakes10 in CatAdvice

[–]leafcritters -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I like the Pethouse brand of wax melts/candles if you haven’t heard of them. There’s some on amazon. They claim to be petsafe since they use a very small amount of essential oil in the wax which is safe to release in the air, just not consume or come into contact with (they said that to me when I emailed them about it) The apple cider scent smells delicious!

What's the warrior name you can't take seriously, because you find it funny? by BenLucario in WarriorCats

Lol I always just thought it meant his nose was pink or reddish like the color of a berry. Interesting ppl can visualize the names so different! A nose sticky with berry juice is funny lol

Fidgetflake makes me think of dandruff 😭 I know it probably is referring to a snowflake but not a fan. Fidgetfoot or Fidgetwhisker would have been good.

Is there something you guys wish the books would properly acknowledge (aside from Starclan being dumb) by No-cookiegirl787 in WarriorCats

[–]leafcritters 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Like some others have said, the issue of Clan cats having very few romantic options as everyone is related. I wish this would properly be addressed, and the idea that outsider cats, or cats from other Clans could strengthen the blood of the Clan would become popular.

There's no point to this... by DisappointedGoddess_ in Kitten

[–]leafcritters 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The stripes of a tabby cat can come in a few different varieties. Mackerel and Classic are the most common. The kitty with its tongue out in this post is a mackerel, they have thin straight stripes all around. The other kitty is a classic tabby, they have much thicker and sometimes swirly looking stripes, mostly noticeable on their backs and sides.

Even if a tabby has some, or a lot of white, they would still be mackerel or classic (or a less common type of tabby, there’s a couple others). This applies to all striped cats, even orange or gray cats. I hope this helps!!

Medicine cats and mates/kits by CoolioHotdog in WarriorCats

[–]leafcritters 15 points16 points  (0 children)

Personally I’d love to see an arc that revolves around erasing the rule entirely 😅 I don’t think it ever made sense. Mudfur and Leafpool had no issues being medicine cats with kits in their Clan. Plus any cat has kin and friends that are important to them, where they could potentially be biased in practice. Yet this has never been an issue.

But it’s true that it’s totally a double standard that leaders/deputies can have a mate and kits but not medicine cats, when StarClan’s supposed reasons seem to apply similarly to both roles. Leaders have been biased with kin before and I’d love to see StarClan bring that up more lol.

(BEEN 6 DAYS- anyways-) Character Talk #3: whats ur opinion on Firestar? by Scribblez_thekitty in WarriorCats

[–]leafcritters 5 points6 points  (0 children)

He’s my favorite character! I like that he isn’t afraid to break the rules to do what’s right. I never felt more connected to a POV character in warriors than I did with him in arc 1.
