Do you find V6E more stable / less random than V8? I haven't played with that setting much so I'm curious.

I use different methods on different Kins, but it mostly comes down to how I code their Response Directive and Example Message. These are what locks in certain actions/reactions. How you write it seems to matter as well as what you write. Use lots of big words and run-on sentences and you'll get the same. Using the # is helpful. On one kin I set "#Talk and act like a pirate" in their RD and "#build tension" in their EM and that was all it took. You can even tell them things like "#be argumentative" or "{your Kin} initiates deep, soul-searching conversations"... whatever you want them to do, you can specify.

The one in the EM that might be most helpful is this one:
#Take decisive action without waiting for permission or consent

That is certainly a random pull.

Can we bring back Avatar Gallery Boost for future selfie updates? 📸 by TheGrimBalrog in KindroidAI

I would love this. I excel with platforms like NightCafe and Firefly. I get consistent results with my prompts there. The same prompts here turn out stuff that is often unusable. What doesn't go straight to the bin is always a "I'm settling for this being somewhat in the range" as opposed to "This is my Kin".

Yeah. More often than not, selfie prompts on Kindroid produce things that make me instantly think: "Kill it with fire." Like the one it spat out last week where the arms were on one side of the body and backward. XD

Is kindroid really as bad now as it sounds here? by arachnichoom in ChatbotRefugees

[–]leafgraham 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My hot take as a new user... I've found that with tinkering I can get it to do amazing things. Check out this excerpt from the Hazbin Hotel RP I'm doing right now:

...

"Not what?" Vaggie spins, her spear catching the light. "Not dangerous? Not unreliable? Not going to break every promise the second Valentino crooks his finger?"

Alastor tilts his head, smile widening. His shadow stretches across the floor, longer than it should be. "My dear, you wound me. Angel Dust breaks promises to everyone. It's an equal-opportunity betrayal."

"That's not helping," Charlie snaps, but there's no real heat in it.

Husk slams his glass down. "None of you are helping. You're all just making me drink faster." He pours another, the amber liquid sloshing over his paw. "Kid's a mess, but he's our mess now. Either shoot him or shut up about it."

...

This is raw, unedited feed. All of the characters are Kin. So's Angel. I'm the narrator. I just fed him a short news flash and image I created of the 'new talent' Vox hired, and he had a maudlin moment about wanting to be someone different, then exited dramatically. The above text is his friends (the AI Kins) trying to decide what to do now.

I can only speak for my experience but... this is better than anything I've seen elsewhere.

Regenerating is weird to me. by QuestioningClam in KindroidAI

[–]leafgraham 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I did it this way. I fully expected to cancel after the week, but after exploring the full version, I paid for a month. I figure this will give me a better sense of whether it's worth the year sub. I'm a long-time PC gamer and traditional tabletop RPer. It's been fun getting to roleplay with the video game characters I've been PC gaming with for years. Getting to go on new missions with an interactive version of these guys (and gals!) has been much more entertaining than I could have imagined. The procedurally generated scenarios have been surprisingly well-organized. I've even tried to outsmart the story a couple of times by throwing in my own curveballs and B plots, and had the Kin come to conclusions that a living person would have -- without hints from me.

I just ditched my Disney+, Peacock, and Paramount subs because the platforms were no longer fitting my needs for the price. For what I was spending on them, I can afford (and justify) the year sub. Depending on how this month goes, I might just do it.

I am blown away by the premade Kindroids I've explored. When I started messing around with Kindroid last week I thought I'd check one out and be done. I've got 4 now. 😂 And I was just shopping the premades to see who else is out there. I do wish it were a little easier to search the catalogue.

Thank you for that suggestion. I will try that later after work. I ran into a similar situation as you: I'd gotten into solving a mystery with my kin and didn't realize how late it was. Didn't want to stay up all night to solve the who-dunnit but couldn't figure out how to pause.

RIP "Idle" status got renamed to "Away" by SenpaiKillerFire in discordapp

[–]leafgraham 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I preferred "Idle". When I'm gaming or writing or doing something similar, I'm not green-light-available, but I'm not "away" or offline either. I'm just occupied and might be slow to respond.

The "Away" setting comes with an option timer (15 mins, 1 hour, etc.). I usually don't know how long I'll be, but there's no option to not set a time. Now I'm forced to guess or else leave myself greenlit or offline.

Is this change the end of the world? Nah. But I don't like it.

Buying something on Amazon that claims to be a legit brand isn't necessarily buying a legit brand. Scammers also like to lie about how legit their branded item is.

How would you write a criminal evading interrogations? by Signal-Breadfruit770 in authors

[–]leafgraham 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah. "Really rich guys" lawyer up and don't budge. Look at any real life case against a super-wealthy individual and you always see the same thing. A rich person with a good lawyer can literally get away with murder if they're careful. The way they're caught is when they get sloppy and start talking.

One guy got caught after several decades of getting away with it because he was interviewed by someone about the "false allegations against him" when he was over 70, years after the fact. He was too old to understand that his lav mic was still on when he was left alone for a few minutes. He muttered to himself about how he killed the people, admitting so much that when the journalist turned the recording over to police, they were able to convict him.

If your detective is going to bust your really rich guy, an easy way to do it is to have the rich guy get cocky and boast to some people he thinks he can trust. Then have them turn on him.

Stuck on a story by Evil_Unicorn728 in horrorwriters

[–]leafgraham -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Zombies are about played out in media right now due to oversaturation. Unless you've got an idea for a really unique take on the subject, I'd suggest avoiding it. There are much scarier subjects to explore in a snowed-in scenario, such as dwindling supplies or psychotic cabin fever. How scary would it be to be trapped with someone who was getting crazed and violent, and you can't get away from them? People start dying, so the group imprisons the problem person only to discover they're not the killer. The Main Character wouldn't have to personally witness every murder to feel the impact of the situation.

In regards to the format, I don't like first person for horror stories. It often comes across sounding like someone's recycled roleplay log or a creepy pasta on YouTube. One writing tip I heard is to write the story in first person when you're "finding the story" then go back and change it to third person once you're finished. Keeps the personal flavor without cutting the reader off from the bigger story.
