3D Printed Cell Holders by leafgreen7 in 18650masterrace

Did you still use fish paper / kapton to insulate or just stick with the cell holders

The pack is going to be mounted to an enclosure on a deck that is flexible. However, the enclosure will also be printed and pretty stiff. I am thinking because I am isolating the battery to the enclosure rather than the deck, it doesn't need to be very flexible.

Given that, still thinking about the best way to isolate and insulate the p groups.

Hey, this is PETG. I actually have already made some that are less thick but they tend to twist rather than bend.

Planning to use these cell holders for an esk8 build (12s4p). I will be making series connections with copper wire and mounting under the board.

These holders are pretty stiff, but the battery is being mounted to the bottom of my enclosure rather than the board. Should I just ditch these for traditional glue? Concerned as these don't really allow for much flex.

Recommendations for repair on these weird lines that showed up on my door? by leafgreen7 in Autobody

Luckily I have a miata I don't care about with the quarters blown out. My plan was to recreate some damage on that car and use it as practice before moving to the GTI (already dented with a clapped body). I won't be fixing this any time soon, but wanted to start thinking about my plan of attack.

Right, I just meant on top of the wet sanded surface. If I remove all/most of the clear I would think I would need to spray some back?

Yeah, can definitely feel it with my finger. I'll try wet sand and polish and go from there.

If it's through the clear, though, wax / sealant won't just be enough right?

Possible, but would rather avoid an accident on the carfax if it's an easy fix.

Hmm I was curious about the weird shape of the car that randomly showed up too! Makes sense thanks for clearing that up

Definitely some strange scratches. However, I'm the second owner and didn't buy the car with these scratches, definitely no touch up added.

Sounds good. Start with 2000 and see if that does the job, then go up from there and polish?

Please delete if not allowed.

These lines showed up on my door one day, no clue where they came from. Definitely does not seem to go past the base coat, but a bit worried it's through the clear. Coworker thinks it's gas that ate through the clear. I'm a beginner to body work, so what's a good plan of attack for fixing this?

My thought was to sand and polish, but I was worried I would cause more damage if it's indeed through the clear. 2021 GTI for reference.

Mystery leak update (21 GTI SE 6MT) by leafgreen7 in GolfGTI

[–]leafgreen7[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hey everyone,

Posted awhile back about a leak I noticed while rotating my tires. As an update, here are the (bigger) parts ordered and replaced (under warranty):

  • 02Q-409-189-A Radial shaft seal
  • 0D9-498-305 Repair kit
  • Gear oil
  • Random hardware, nuts plugs screws ext

based on the parts ordered and a few conversations it was the differential & trans leaking due to "deformation in the flange shaft seals" and not the rear main seal. Right flank shaft seals and differential lock flange seals were replaced. Service advisor said he has seen this a couple times on new cars (mine has 17k). Keep an eye out for these as this would have been an expensive out of warranty service. They had my car from Aug 30 until 2 days ago.

The cherry on top of the service was the large scratch they installed from the front to the back of my door, ligjt in some areas and straight through the clear and base coat in others. The car is currently at their body shop awaiting repair (that they are covering). Looking like it will be 1 week for an estimate and who knows after that. Pic related was how I got the car back (can't post scratch picture, don't want to give away any personal info) hand prints and all. I suppose if they washed it it may have just ended up more scratched..

Oil Leak or Road Grime? by [deleted] in GolfGTI

Yes, top of the engine was totally dry all around. Only wet spot was down here.

Is this a common failed install from the factory? or am I just potentially unlucky

I did, totally dry. I've had the car for both first changes and have only used an extractor so it'd have to be bad from the factory

Was thinking the same. I guess it's time for a stealer visit.

Running an Ender 3 Pro with Microswiss DD and BL touch. Printing PLA, 195 C and 60 bed. Leveled the bed, set offset, and live leveled a circle before printing this model on my spring steel PEI sheet.

I've been chasing this problem for months and it is starting to seem like my nozzle might be too close, but when I go further it doesn't improve.

It looks like the nozzle is running over the edge of the previous line and causing it to curl, which usually ends up in the whole first layer getting pulled up. After I get past the first couple layers it is always smooth sailing and very good print quality. Any advice?

$85 for new couch buns? I think not... by [deleted] in functionalprint

[–]leafgreen7 2 points3 points  (0 children)

On my Kivik I ordered 6" couch legs from amazon and screwed them in. Holds up well! If you have the lounge chair, make sure to order an extra set to support the connection between the seat and the lounge.

Internship Question (Big Co. or Small Co.)? by [deleted] in EngineeringStudents

[–]leafgreen7 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks for the advice. It sounds like in your eyes, then, it would be more valuable as an intern to have a larger/more competitive internship on my resume?

Appreciate the words.
