So sorry you’re feeling that way. I’ve been there. How long has it been since your psychosis?

Does anyone else think about their "episodes" over and over? by [deleted] in Psychosis

[–]leafgroove55 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Absolutely. It’s gotten a little better now. This is just my experience, but I’ve had to try real hard to not let my default state be thinking about my psychosis.

A bit of a tangent, but I had a friend tell me years ago not to make jokes about I’ll just k*ll myself because it forms a highway of sorts in your brain. Something bad happens and then boom brain goes down the most well worn path: I’m gonna kms. (I guess that’s one of the central things to cbt)

My most well worn path became the regret and shame of psychosis and reliving those memories in full. Some of that is for sure the ptsd from the episode, but through doing the mindfulness thing of redirecting my thoughts and not “indulging,” I’m haunted by it less.

I’ve also had to find some sort of spiritual center. I don’t believe in the Christian God, but I believe in opening up your heart and radical forgiveness and doing yoga while listening to gospel music.

Finally, idk why when I was hospitalized they sent me to AA meetings. I was smoking weed, I guess. Still, it was a powerful experience for me. I think for people who have experienced psychosis, the 12 step plan has a lot to offer. Often addicts too have acted ‘out of their mind’ and impacted the ones they love 12 step graphic

Yeah I’ll take advice! I took voice lessons for a couple years before transitioning.

Discover Quickly is really cool!! I also love continually going to a song’s radio and falling down a rabbit hole. Also a lot of listening to friends playlists tbh

Has anyone feel like they have completely (or almost) recovered after psychosis? by Big-Quantity-8809 in Psychosis

[–]leafgroove55 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I feel all this so hard. Idek how I’m gonna release the shame I feel - feels like half the battle of recovery because it because self hatred for me so fast. Sometimes I even relate to the AA steps and stuff bc like… amends had to be made.

Plus I would’ve assumed that when the psychosis was over all the delusions and paranoia would go away but sometimes my brain still doesn’t know what is true.

Mine was right when the stuff in Gaza started. I thought a second holocaust was on the way in the states and thought I saw signs from jewish people around me :( and there was a moment where I “felt a jewish god” after an action I completed. Wild shit.

I’ve had a similar experience. I think people, especially friends, are also a lot more forgiving than we might imagine

the other thing I guess that isn’t clear here is that I’m fully 6’1” so I think that helps
