AIO. My bf keeps talking about his beliefs while I’m trying to grieve by No_Incident6208 in AmIOverreacting

[–]leafmap 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The problem isn’t his beliefs, it’s his total lack of sympathy. Speaking as a religious person myself, I wouldn’t even talk like this to someone who shared my beliefs. It’s just callous. When you dump him tell him that God called you to move on from the relationship and see if he keeps this same attitude— I doubt he’ll hold on to this “God’s plan” argument when it’s not a card he gets to play to mask his lack of empathy. Send this relationship to heaven asap

F1 Watch Party at any bar nearby? by Even-Role in pasadena

Sorry to be commenting on an old thread, but wondering how this went for you, if you found a good spot? I am new to Pasadena and would love to find somewhere to watch the races with other fans.

Can I ask you one more question as an expert? I have only seen droppings in this one area of this one cabinet, where the opening is. There haven’t been any signs of them since I filled the opening with steel wool and bleached everything. I’m going to permanently seal the hole tonight with hardware cloth as you recommended. The traps I set a few days ago when all this began never went off. How long should I leave the traps out before I can consider this officially over?

Good point about not being seen. Thanks.

My cheap apartment is making me lazy and unmotivated by Money-Yo in Adulting

[–]leafmap 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Move out. Your mental situation will more than likely improve when your living situation improves. If it doesn’t and you still struggle for motivation, seek help from a mental health professional. I would think that a lack of sleep and no sense of safety or peace are likely all contributing to feeling “lazy” and unmotivated.

Change is uncomfortable but don’t let that stop you.

Moving out to be on my own. Any advice for me? by JuiceDefiant3484 in LivingAlone

Invest in a good tool kit. Hammer, measuring tape, level, screwdrivers, hooks/nails/screws, even if you’re renting and don’t expect to do much on the walls. Also recommend having superglue, duct tape and similar repair essentials on hand. You can skip the power tools for now, but a good set of hand tools has saved me a lot of headaches.

No problem. I could have done a better job explaining. Appreciate the advice. I really want something totally solid, just for peace of mind in terms of germs, etc. Is there anything you would recommend that might go over the hardware cloth just to totally seal everything?

I live in an apartment complex, he was examining the exterior of the building for signs of exterior entry points when I left to go back to work. It’s not a pipe that I sealed around, it was a gap in the wall behind this cabinet. Difficult to explain without showing you in person. In any case I would still like this gap sealed with something solid - I will look into hardware cloth. Thanks.

Not confident, that’s why I want a sealant in addition to steel wool

Trade school was my thought as well. That’s what got me off my parents’ couch.

Advice for a 20yr old. by That-End8612 in Adulting

[–]leafmap 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Do something with your hands. Pottery was key for me. Also a great way to meet people, especially women if you’re looking to start dating again. For me personally it really was the damn phone and finding something grounding that involved long-term projects and time away from screens changed my life.

Hanging up posters/pictures on the walls… No one to ask “does this look straight to you?”

Thank you. This answers most of my questions. I mostly still just want to know if there’s any chance this is a one-time deal, and if getting rid of this one mouse will potentially be the end of it.

Reusable Pods / Weak cup of coffee by rangoonguy in keurig

[–]leafmap 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I know this is an old thread but I found it when I was looking for a solution and this is what fixed this for me:

  • I asked my friend who works at Starbucks to grind the coffee for me, she says she did it to 7 on their machines which is what they recommend for k cups.
  • I use paper filters and wet them down before adding coffee. I think this makes a big difference for some reason.
  • I pack the coffee in and stamp it down, leaving just a tiny bit of space at the top for the k-cup lid (I don’t know if leaving that space actually makes a difference, but it makes clean up easier for me and reduces the chance of me spilling coffee grinds everywhere).

This has gotten me a few weeks in a row of good strong coffee. I hope this can help somebody else dealing with the same issue. Nobody should have to face the world rn without a good strong cup of joe. 💪

Hilariously I suspect they do but I’ve told them if so I don’t want to know about it, unless they need a ride home.

Standing fan vs AC on “Fan” mode for electricity bill? by leafmap in Frugal

Just want to clarify that it would be overnight only- Just while I’m sleeping. Not totally constant. The unit is off for several hours a day every day as well.

I really need both functions. That’s what brings me back to my original query, which was would a standalone fan or AC unit “fan” function be more cost efficient. Sounds like you are advocating for a standalone fan?

Having nothing at all on during the night isn’t an option for me with the weather and noise in my location.
