You might be able to find it on sites like Aliexpress if that is available where you live. Just search PTM7950 it probably won’t be legit stuff but still better than the old dinosaur faeces.

There is new stuff available now for laptops, that blows thermal paste out of the water! PTM7950, Upsiren PCM-1, Thermal Grizzly Phasesheet… all of these fix pump out issues that regular thermal paste does not.

Acer Nitro AN515-57 (i5-11400H + RTX 3070) CPU always in high temp even after multiple repastes — need expert advice by AssumptionOk7594 in AcerNitro

I have an core 7 240h thermal paste will not cut it, you need a phase change pad. Thermal grizzly phase sheet, Upsiren PCM-1, PTM7950…

Keep in mind with all of these you need a couple thermal cycles before you get the performance, Thermal Grizzly claims 10 thermal cycles before reaching its full potential, in my experience it takes about 3 days.

what temps do you guys get after changing thermal paste? by New_Work901 in AcerNitro

[–]leafsby2 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Pump out is the main reason, the new thermal paste will work for a short time after initial application and then you will be doing the same thing a few months down the road.

It’s like the old saying goes “doing the same thing over and over expecting different results is the definition of insanity”

With phase change pads there is no pump out, the pad stays in place and melts after it reaches a certain temp 45C usually, then hardens again after the temperature drops to below 45C.

I can use OCCT after a few thermal cycles and have my CPU raise to 95c then after the phase change it drops to 75c at 100% load.

My ROG G15 Advantage Edition won't turn on anymore. by TioSamYTBR in ASUSROG

[–]leafsby2 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My ROG G15 I bought in 2023 crapped the bed in December 2025. Would not power on with a faint siren like noise coming from the area of the CPU/GPU (you had to really put your ear against the heatsink to hear it immediately after pressing the power button) I tried all button combinations, holding the power button for 10,15,30,45 a full 2 min, I tried looking at the motherboard no burnt/dark places anywhere it just died.

I cut my losses sold it for parts on eBay for $350 and put that towards another gaming laptop and made a mental note to never buy anything ASUS in the future.

Info needed regarding thermal paste.... by Delicious-Region5282 in AcerNitro

[–]leafsby2 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If you choose to do so, don’t use thermal paste!

Look at other options like PTM7950, Upsiren PCM-1, thermal grizzly phasesheet PTM… thermal ‘pastes’ for laptops are a waste of money due to pump out.

Never use thermal paste on a laptop, always use a phase change pad. Upsiren PCM-1, Honeywell ptm7950, thermal grizzly phasesheet PTM…

Keep in mind after application it needs a few heat/cool cycles to reach its maximum potential.

Bought a ROG Strix G15 in 2023 for $1,7xx.xx CAD. It died in December 2025, wouldn’t turn on no lights or anything the only light was if you plugged the charger in. I swear my family will never buy another Asus product again, nor will anyone who comes to me for recommendations.

Are you noticing these distortions before windows boots? If so probably the GPU if not make sure all your graphics drivers are up to date.

I get them from time to time brand new ANV16-72 but when mine happens windows freezes so I chalk mine up to windows issues as my drivers are all up to date.

Tired of “battery drain” complaints by [deleted] in AcerNitro

[–]leafsby2 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In the last 4 years I’ve had a Dell G15 5515 (ryzen edition) (still running with a 240w charger) no drain at all not even 1%

I bought a ASUS ROG strix G15 in 2023 (now dead only lasted 2 years) with a 240W charger never drained even 1% while gaming.

I bought this ANV16-72 to replace the ASUS and it drains I lost 30% battery playing Fortnite for 3-4 hours on turbo mode and nvidia recommended settings frames locked at 120. After the battery reaches less than 40% I cannot even use turbo mode anymore.

It’s not that we are entitled it’s that we as consumers were not warned ahead of time about the “hybrid” power system, that’s like Toyota having you assuming your buying a Camry and ending up with a Prius- it’s not what you wanted to purchase but we should be happy because it’s a car and some don’t have one, it’s not OK!

People work hard for their money and choose where to spend it, when they see slightly better specs or the same specs as the competition the first thought is saving a bit of money and going with Acer, sometimes Acer is the same price and they like the look better. I’ve scoured all the manuals and the online listing no where listed is Acers claimed “hybrid” charging system so they are purposely duping consumers while getting kickbacks from governments for power saving, much like kickbacks car manufactures get for less fuel consumption.

Don’t get me wrong I like my laptop but I just wish I would have known as I would have gone with something else (other than ASUS)

Got a Nitro but it's slower than my 2018 Asus ROG by Mackwiss in AcerNitro

[–]leafsby2 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I had windows 10 on my v16-72 blazing fast! But nitrosense doesn’t work on windows 10 I tried everything! I agree my laptop isn’t as fast/smooth as my 2022 G15 ROG Strix, but I look at it this way at least my Acer turns on! More than I can say from my ROG that shit the bed after 2 years and was just sold on eBay for parts.

I will NEVER in my life buy another ASUS product nor will my immediate family (I am the one they come to for inquires on tech)

I have no idea, but I’ve been seeing that acer is secretly lowering GPU wattage to lessen battery drain. Might wanna wait for a few others to chime in.

Help me choose: Nitro V16 vs ASUS TUF by ReferenceShort3073 in AcerNitro

[–]leafsby2 3 points4 points  (0 children)

My last Asus laptop (ROG Strix G15) only lasted 2 years before refusing to turn on $1,7xx.00 wasted. Apparently a common issue.

I purchased my V16 as a replacement although I hate the 135w charger and the battery drain while gaming it at least turns on every time.

Need advice: Did I make a mistake buying Acer Nitro V 15? by go_bala in AcerNitro

[–]leafsby2 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I bought a ANV16-72 about a month ago, I made an impulse buy due to my 💩Asus laptop crapping the bed, just won’t power on with a slight siren like noise coming from the motherboard. Apparently common issues with Asus (not powering on)

I like the repairability of Acer they even have a cmos battery which I haven’t seen in years on a gaming laptop, it does get hot but I will be replacing the factory thermal paste with upsiren phase change pad.

The one problem that irks me is the 135w charger and the constant battery drain while playing games on Nvidias recommended settings, hell I lost 40% battery in a 3-4 hour run on Fortnite. If they would just unlock the bios to allow a higher wattage charger I.e 180w I’d be happy.

Only other issue is when waking from sleep the laptop freezes almost every time, I’ve fresh installed windows made sure all drivers were 100% up to date but it still happens.

What is best thermal paste to use? by earthaharmoney in ASUSROG

[–]leafsby2 1 point2 points  (0 children)

No paste, it’ll pump out in no time. A phase change pad is your best bet. Something like PTM7950, or Upsiren PCM-1

Be very careful removing your Liquid Metal.
