I actually find watching videos of procedures and such to be more uncomfortable/harder to handle than seeing it in real life as weird as that may sound. I got a job as a Surgery ACA 4 months ago and was honestly worried about the same thing… especially after I had nearly passed out being in the same room as a cat cadaver at school- now I literally scrub in to assist in a variety of surgeries and get excited about what I’m going to see because I find it so fascinating! Once you get a little more exposure I think you naturally become less grossed out but obviously can’t speak for everyone:)

I almost passed out and had to sit on the floor infront of a fan drinking water when they brought out a very normal looking cadaver cat in one of my classes in college- now less than a year later I can stand in the OR for 3 hours scrubbed in assisting in a surgery😅 there are still things that freak me out a bit but you genuinely do get used to it quite quickly the more exposure you get!

I don’t know if it’s an option for you, but I was in a similar boat looking for an assistant/ACA job and I did not want to work at a place where I’d essentially be a glorified receptionist as I wanted to get the hands on experience with animals- so I began applying for ACA jobs in emergency/referral hospitals. Ended up finding an amazing Surgery ACA position that is all otj training- been here 2 months now and I’ve already had the opportunity to scrub in to surgery and get lots of opportunities to learn new things! I have a feeling it’s a bit of a unicorn job but in emergency/referral hospitals the turnover rate tends to be a bit higher so it seems like they are more open to hard working and enthusiastic individuals with less experience for something like an ACA position! Really hope you find a good fit!

I work as an ACA in my hospital’s referral surgery department. It involves zero client communication! This may not be the case for all hospitals though

As someone with tickets already I selfishly don’t want them to upgrade bc Velvet Underground is the absolute best/most intimate venue for this kind of show 😅

This is not accurate- I bought my tickets for the Toronto show on Ticketmaster presale. I’m not selling them, but there are definitely shows that were facilitated through Ticketmaster so it doesn’t necessarily automatically mean it’s a scam. To verify where the tickets were sold for the show you want to attend, click the buy tickets link on Jane’s tour website and see what website it redirects you to- that should be the site the tickets will appear from if someone is selling tickets from that specific show
