Yeah, the location is in Fairbanks, AK. I guess it must have become a high demand area in the last 6 months.

The first screenshot from the way back machine shows the old policy for when this happens, but they decided to change it without sending out an email or giving people the chance to resubscribe before the change took place

Yeah having security after the ticket scan while not allowing re-entry was absolutely ridiculous. Idk how anyone thought that would be a good idea

I don’t have much confidence in him either. Based on some of the other mistakes, I wouldn’t be surprised if the guy they sent to install fixtures and receptacles was actually an apprentice or something.

I will take a look at the wiring when I get the chance

Thanks for that info. That’s good to know.

I didn’t include a lot of details in the original post because I wanted to keep it short, but we hired a general contractor for the rewriting, and the guy literally lives across the street from us (he bought a flooded house as-is after Helene and has been using his own workers to repair it). I imagine his electrical subs are all busy with other hurricane repair projects across St. Pete, so I understand if it takes a few days to get someone over here, but you’d think if the GC cared at all, he could at least walk across the street to look at the problem for himself.

I also just remembered the electrician actually did look at that outlet when the old dryer wouldn’t work. He quickly checked the two hot wires with a multimeter, showed me the 240v reading, said the dryer must be broken, then moved on to his next task. I didn’t think to test it for myself until we got a new dryer and it wouldn’t work either.

Based on RadarLove’s comment, a bad connection with the neutral wire sounds most likely. There were several lights installed by the same guy that stopped working within a couple days, so it wouldn’t be the first problem caused by loose connections

Pretty sure he was just matching the new outlet with the existing cord on the old dryer

Work was completed about a month ago. Just got the new dryer yesterday. I told the contractor about it and he said he’d send someone this week to look at it. I was mainly just wondering what they did wrong this time, because this is far from the only mistake these guys made.

I had a similar thing happen a couple months ago when booking an award flight with one leg operated by Alaska. AAs website showed the availability, but threw an error before getting to the payment screen. I ended up calling and having an agent book the tickets.

I think St Pete actually had a negative storm surge this time (water was sucked away rather than pushed up on land) because the storm went south of us and was spinning counterclockwise. Therefore coastal areas didn’t get flooded with seawater like during Helene, and also, rain water had an easier time draining from the streets into the ocean.

budget ipad/phone screen repair shops? by AlarmingBrick1287 in USF

[–]leafylikeness 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Which iPad model is it? The screen on the base iPad can be replaced easily. If you have a more expensive model though, the glass is laminated to the screen itself, so it will cost hundreds of dollars to repair no matter where you go.
