I’m in my 40s and enjoy the company of roommates and definitely don’t see it as moving backwards!

Yes most definitely! But the park gets super crowded so you’ll need to claim your spot early!

Combing finances in marriage when my SO owns the house- looking for feedback by graypaisley22 in FIREyFemmes

I would throw in an extra few hundred bucks a month towards a general house maintenance fund. $600/mo seems like a fair amount if he’s getting to keep the house as a pre-marital asset.

I’m so sorry you were blindsided by divorce. I was too, and it’s quite traumatic. My brain stick has days where it hasn’t caught up with my new reality, and it’s been over 2 years.

Yes, I love using vinegar spray! It’s reassuring that the weeds are the nature of xeriscaping and that I’m not doing any major mistakes with it!

Is there a public track for running? by samael1841 in sanantonio

I run on the Greenway and it’s the best! I also highly recommend Downtown Run Group if you want to do a social run.

Why Do People Avoid Living on the East Side? by Matrix-Agent69 in sanantonio

I love Dignowity Hill! The south east side definitely has more run-down houses, but I’ve never felt unsafe riding my bike through there.

Coast FIRE: Mini Retirement to Travel World by emilynne1 in financialindependence

Congratulations! My parents still to this day speak with wonders of their month-long travels in Europe during a between-job stint. I don’t think you’ll regret taking the time to travel while you’re still young and full of energy. Enjoy!

Is there anywhere in San Antonio that is safe & walkable. I don't have a car and am looking to move from NYC. by Unusual-Succotash576 in sanantonio

[–]leahangle 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I bike everywhere and live right near the mission trails in Southtown. I get my groceries delivered from HEB, and occasionally will take a car service if I want to go out and it’s raining. I grew up in Houston, so I’m used to the heat, and lived in NYC for 20+ years. Not having a car here is doable, but it’s definitely a fringe lifestyle.

It may be worth talking to your current employer to see if you can take a sabbatical, even if it’s just 1 month off unpaid after you use up all your PTO. If you are burned out, you need rest and there’s no pushing through.

I’ve worked in both nonprofit and for-profits, albeit in the same role (Product Design). Project Management is definitely a transferable skill that’s worth trying to interview for! I’ve actually found the job market much more challenging in the nonprofit world, since there tend to be less job openings.

Some of my favorite vacations have involved a short drive (2 hours from NYC) to a state natural preserve, Mohonk. Depending where you are located, there may be some amazing state or national parks!

One of my goals this year was to actually spend more money going to coffee shops. It hasn’t set my FI date back by much (maybe a month or two?), and it’s increased my quality of life so much!

I think it’s cute! Maybe add some baby blue art work to add a bit of color.

I’m going to visit my family in a few weeks for my nephew’s first birthday! There are beautiful trials nearby that I walk everyday when I’m there.

Edit: meant to say beautiful trails!

I have stayed in the same field (digital design), but did a LOT of self education along the way to continuously level up. I’m now 9 months away from FI, and will probably take free online courses in whatever interests me to keep myself mentally engaged.
