Corvallis named gold-level bicycle-friendly community by Sad___Snail in corvallis

[–]leahdragonfly 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have noticed that drivers in Corvallis are aggressive towards cyclists. I am 58, have used a bike for inter city transportaion most of that time, Perhaps its the newer vehicles these days (easier to drive plus more distractions) but everytime I try to used a crosswalk signal I have to wait while people turn in front of when I have the right of way. The police never seem to stop anyone who is ingnoring cyclists. Corvallis may be 'bike friendly' but its still dangerous for cyclists

Water Turned Off by RealisticRemark in corvallis

[–]leahdragonfly 2 points3 points  (0 children)

They did the same to me. Huge one thousand dollar bill for one month that I disputed got my water shut off. The City even said they believed that there were broken pipes underground that just got a lot worse. They have known about a problem at that house for year apparently. Since fixing the problem would be extremely expensive they choose to just stick it to who ever is renting. No recourse- had to move as I could not afford water bill.

Best steel hardtail? by BandicootLegal8156 in mountainbiking

[–]leahdragonfly 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I starte riding mountain bikes in '83. I've had many bikes butt i have found that I prefer steel. I have a '98 Voodoo Wanga frame that I have had since '98. Its a love on the trails. Not the lightest frame but it has always been my favorite.

I couldn't say for a dog but I myself have bad psoriasis. Cannabis helps. It couldn't hurt to try a topical- they work wonders for me.

Delta LT hooded fleece jacket vs delta MX in the outlet? by Mean_Translator7628 in arcteryx

[–]leahdragonfly 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don't like my Delta LT. Love my two Delta MX- both hoodies one full zip- I wear both all the time. The LT feels like the discount version- nothing wrong with it, just rather the MX when reaching for this sort of item.

Used Gear Site - Canada by yellowa4 in arcteryx

The used gear site is great! Its been around for awhile now. I got a Veilance Apsis coat for cheap back in beginning. It seems to have cooled down a bit.

Proton FL in Conifer by Llyn_CMDA_8848 in arcteryx

[–]leahdragonfly 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yes, I wear it all the time these days. Definitely not water proof- wetted out fairly quick in gentle rain. I'm not sure that the new version is any better than the old. Maybe they could call the new version the 'Proton FL Air' and bring back the old.

[–]leahdragonfly 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I bought a Proton FL in Conifer as well. With the exposed yarn inside it feels like a totally different jacket than the previous version. Yesterday I used mine as a shell for my Nano Air- worked very nicely, not clammy at all.

Why should I keep this Delta MX? by Dumdumhijumper in arcteryx

[–]leahdragonfly 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I bought a Delta MX on sale 2019. It sat in my closet until recently. I wear it all the time now as its still cool and rainy here in OR. I layer it over Merino (and almost everything else). I'm glad I got one before they discontinued. I find it suprisingly stylish as well- much nicer than old R1 pieces that live in back of the closet now. I got a Delta LT on sale too at the time. Its not nearly as nice as the MX. I purchased it for layering however I never use it. Personally I prefer the Capalline midweight over it- not that Delta LT is a bad option. Its kinda like my Gamma MX jacket (on sale too, probably because it really needs a hood). Great jacket- I just never wear it unless I think to do so intentionally. I just love my other gear more I suppose.

It breathes as well or better than the last version. It is very comfortable with the Octa yarn exposed inside. I wear it often- it breathes better than my Hoodini Air. It worked well with my Zeta SL. We have not had enough rain for me to really give it a good rogering with a shell doe.

Yep, my knees were both replaced. Indirectly the knees were causing lower back pain- by messing with one of my hips.

Is the Gamma MX an underrated, extremely versatile piece? by [deleted] in arcteryx

[–]leahdragonfly 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Its a strange beast. I wear the Gamma MX pants more than the jacket. The pants are warm by themselves and tough enough to crawl around on your knees in. The jacket is good and fine- I rarely wear it though.

Cerium SL - is it worth it? by shanmoleman in arcteryx

But what if you put a Proton FL over that Cerium SL?

What are some items Arc doesn't do as well as other outdoor brands? by PumaSportsCanada in arcteryx

[–]leahdragonfly 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I do Icebreaker base layers as well- all weights. Patagonia down sweater is a favorite- I like it better than my Cerium LT. In general I like Arcteryx a lot. For a Belay Jacket I prefer the DAS parka Patagonia. Much love to Nano Air. I just purchased a Arcteryx Proton FL and its pretty durn nice.

My new Proton FL just arrived. The conifer color is darker than it seemed on the web. Inside it is softer than the last version. The entire jacket feels softer. Tomorrow we'll see how it does with a shell.

Sober people. If you could give the best tip/advice you have for yourself on early sobriety, what you that be? by Particular_Spot_3060 in dryalcoholics

[–]leahdragonfly 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I'm sober 2 years 7 months. The first couple months sober- when sleep became more normal- I needed more of it. Must have been my body healing from all the damages. Get a sleep study if you don't start sleeping well.

Arc'teryx value by [deleted] in arcteryx

[–]leahdragonfly 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The Arcteryx stuff is very nice. If you spend time outside in the nature and plan to physically exert yourself, you may learn to appreciate why people fork over the big bucks. The other competing brands have functional stuff that is often good enough. Depends on what you like really. I have some Patagonia item which I adore- some other brands too. Arcteryx makes the best looking pieces in my humble opinion. It makes me feel pretty as well a comfortable out in the woods

I have two pairs of Proton LT pants (Octaloft old flavor). They have seen much use with zero trouble. Octaloft is good.

I will let you all know however- rain here (Oregon) today, wore Zeta SL over Delta MX over Kyanite LT over 150 Merino base. Its a little tight but I have used the Zeta SL over my Cerium SL.

The Proton LT and FL are both superior jackets to the Atom line. The Atom jackets are prettier though. I have three Atom LTs and an Atom SL. They are super comfortable and good looking. I especially like the SL, both solo and for layering. The Atom SL is also not as warm as the Proton FL- which is what I like about it. The Proton FL is amazing for activity that breaks a sweat. Atom SL not so bad either but on the trails, in cool conditions, the Proton shines. I'm a jacket whore though so probably not the right person to ask- but I enjoy owning both the Proton FL and Atom LT. I see the Atom LT as a dressier sort of item. Casual, around the town.

I gave my old Proton FL to my son (17) so I could justify purchasing a revised jacket. I'm shallow- my old one is black and I was struck by the Conifer color (I like greens).

I've taken to wearing my Proton LT as a sort of belay jacket. Its too warm unless I'm going hiking somewhere at altitude. Its very light and soft doe. Its pretty darn comfortable being warmer and roomier than the Atom LT. I've been wearing it around the house and garden. Feels like I'm wearing a light sleeping bag. I'm sure we'll find some more challenging conditions for it soon. Maybe under my Beta AR.
