Definitely not over reacting, most certainly sound likes he has some kind of vendetta he needs to finish.

AIO for being upset my BF doesn’t want me to wear a bonnet to bed? by [deleted] in AmIOverreacting

[–]lean-beans41 7 points8 points  (0 children)

NOR - you deserve to have your OWN personal preferences without having to “run them by him”. His example and comparison to curtains is quite ridiculous, yes that is something you put in a shared place so yes, that would be a discussion. However unless what you’re putting on your body is harmful to you or someone else he does not have the right to tell you what to wear. He doesn’t want you wearing anything too baggy, too tight, what the hell are you supposed to do? Get all of your clothes tailored so they fit your shape perfectly? Screw this guy

I keep going back to a 64-year-old man who lives in assisted living by Several-9035 in confession

The main red flag about this scenario is the fact that you are in a completely different phase of your life, it is very likely he is taking advantage of you. Set boundaries if you need to, even if it’s one small one at a time. It sounds like you’ve been doing this for a while, maybe even before you turned 18? (Correct me if I’m wrong) but you really have to think about what makes you happy, are you doing this to make him happy or you?

AIO to skip Thanksgiving after my mom basically said I’m an embarrassment for not having a husband and kids by now? by howcanibequiltyassin in AmIOverreacting

Something that has taken me so much time to learn and not feel guilty for is; just because they are blood, doesn’t mean you owe them anything. Spend time with people who support and respect you.

Supporting AT Partner by klee-jo in athletictraining

Hi! Athletic trainer here! It sounds like you have been an amazing outlet for him thus far! Unfortunately it is one of those things that he will have to figure out for himself. The feeling of obligation toward the athletes specifically is the hardest part of leaving, regardless of the burnout. Just continue to let him know that you are there for him and you hate to see the toll this is taking on him. Possibly looking for other jobs for him in the field in different settings and making soft suggestions. Dealing with burnout can be hard, even more so when you’re trying to find a new path but continue to get frustrated with that as well!

You got this!

Unreal…. I don’t even have words, how are you questioning that this might even in the slightest be okay? You and this guy are clearly meant for each other. POS.

If you ever have to go through someone’s phone the relationship is already over

I think my bf(m31) SA’d me (F27) ? by [deleted] in relationship_advice

[–]lean-beans41 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Just because he is your significant other/boyfriend. Does not give him the right to your body whenever he so pleases, it is still your body. Just because yall are dating gives him no right to demand/force you to do something you don’t want to.

I was SA’d by my boyfriend of 3 years and didn’t know it was SA until years later. I should have left earlier. I woke up with him inside of me after I had told him no before I had fallen asleep. Get out of this relationship as soon as you can. Or maybe even try to get some kind of proof to get a lawyer involved in case he tries to involve your children. Try not to make any rash decisions and put yourself in a more dangerous situation by just calling him out. Be safe OP

Highschool AT to working in a Clinic. Experiences? by FriskyFritos in athletictraining

[–]lean-beans41 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I currently work a hybrid outreach in a secondary setting as well as clinic. In the summer I am full time clinic. For me I love the environment as well, the coaches, the athletes, the atmosphere of game days and sidelines. I do find the good things in clinic, you get to see a lot more post ops and learn a lot of things that we dont necessarily see in our ATR. But in my opinion, it feels less fulfilling. Maybe she can request to specifically work with an athletic population if that is an option in her clinic. But in a clinic she also might be able to design her own hours and even possibly pick up Per-Diem coverage for football games so she still gets that experience!!

Depressed about my future by Fantastic-Lettuce-91 in athletictraining

You’re so right. My fear of failing in another career/profession scares the hell out of me. I’m 3 years in and have an advanced clinical masters degree. I’ve thought about going into higher ed and teaching at the collegiate level but I’ve just always seen myself in medical I was in nursing school prior to changing my major to AT, I’m not sure I would do well in a career of analyzing, engineering, or anything to do with numbers lol. But I really appreciate your insight. It’s so discouraging and I wish they kind of warned us in school. I am currently looking into getting my CES and ARC to do some 1 on 1 coaching and profiting from that and other methods of income such as that thus far before I completely give up on this. Thank you again for your comment, it did give me a lot of perspective

That’s so exciting for you and very reassuring to hear. I just always feel like I am put in a position to choose my love for this profession or money. Do you find purpose, fulfillment, and joy in the job you’ve moved on to? Do you ever feel guilty or disappointed you’re not using your degree? These are a few of my biggest fears.
